Lavine is probably the third guy you add to your team once you've established your All Star-level core. Right now the Jazz have one All Star-level player, but otherwise don't have an established a core.

As a Lauri fan since he entered the league, I can tell you Lavine is toxic. What we need is a traditional guard, at least for now. I have been advocating Fultz. Tyus Jones or Brogdon also ok. For fancier name, then Giddy.

This. And we still don't have that bucket-getter. Any contending team needs that guy to whom you can give the ball and he just goes and gets a bucket, or reliably sets up someone else.

I think LaVine is just the value guy you add if he's cheap to acquire. The talent is undeniable. He can give you 50 in a game. I dont think he's someone you are super to excited to add if you already have two all-stars (because most 2 all-star teams are going to be good to great on offense). I think he's someone you add if you're in Utah's position if you arent all that good and the acquisition price is low.
Like if when Clarkson becomes available and you can trade Clarkson/Sexton/Protected 1st for LaVine, would you do it? What are you really losing?
Also I know this is just based off advanced stats after 1.5 weeks of basketball, so it's stupid and not serious, but lmao at Fanspo saying the subtraction of Clarkson/Sexton and addition of Lavine would be a +3.27 for our defense. That's how bad Sexton/Clarkson have been for the Jazz defensively.
