What's new

LDS Church fined for contributions to Prop 8!! HA!

You'd be surprised how many people think just like Thriller. This is the propaganda being thrown around by those who oppose gay marriage. It's laughable and completely backwards.

It sure is wonderful the way people make assumptions about why I take the positions I do. Well that's why there's a saying about people who assume.

Your argument is the same "separate, but equal" garbage that people keep spewing. "Let's just give those pesky gays the same rights, but call it something DIFFERENT." That is the definition of separate, but equal. I don't need to argue that point anymore, as it has been done already in this thread.

Since we are on a new forum, I will state my position once again so it is clear. I do not consider myself gay. I identify as a straight transsexual woman. It is true that this influences my position on the gay marriage debate, but it is not my sole motivation. I have said it before. I believe in full equality for all. I will always argue on the side of equality.

You seem really upset with this fact that real life does not align with traditional american rhetoric... get used to it.
You also seem really upset with the fact that religions try to prevent things which go against their religion... do you also get pissed off that schools try to prevent non-learning in the youth demographic?

Its people like you who bitch about this stuff all the time that make me hate some of the positions I agree with.
Clearly marriage is an opportunity (not a right, marriage isn't a right its a piece of paper) that should be extended to any two willing participants. However it's not. Just like war should be something that is inevitable when it happens and not governed by special interests, but its not.
Marriage does not guarantee or deny you any rights. Its a piece of paper for god's sake.
If you did your research you would know that the church believes in equal rights and equal viewing in the eyes of the law for gay couples, they just don't endorse gay marriage (because that would be hypocritical to "the plan" which is the foundation).

Quit looking for an enemy, because you were/are alienated by your sexual orientation. People who are different are going to be alienated. Hell I'm rediculously good looking... if I went to a Nascar race I would for sure be alienated, so I try to avoid as much as possible those awkward situations.

But you're just looking for a bone to pick.

If gay marriage became legal, I'm sure you'd be just as pissed off at something else that alienated you because of your orientation.

The LDS church doesn't have rights over the term "marriage." Why should they get to decide who can be married?

Katie - Your interpretation of the LDS Church's position on gay marriage is flawed. Their interest lies in the spiritual significance of "marriage", not it's civil implications. Ultimately it just comes down to the word. But it is that way for both sides. As I understand it, California already has a Domestic Partnership law in place - and that it covers the rights and privileges afforded to "married" couples. I actually linked to the law a couple of times on the old board - I will not do so now because those efforts were completely ignored.

I've stated that I feel it would be in everyone's best interest for the gov't to start recognizing only civil unions - let the term "marriage" be the religious equivalent. If a church wanted to "marry" gays or straights - whatever - that's their domain. But the state would recognize it - gay or straight - as a civil union. Nothing more, nothing less. Everyone has the same rights.

BTW, it wasn't the mormons that carried prop 8. There aren't enough mormons in CA to pull that kind of thing off. And for the record:

The campaigns for and against Proposition 8 raised $39.9 million and $43.3 million, respectively.

straight transexual woman? so you like chicks too? high five!

I don't think so. If I understand, she's a straight transsexual woman, meaning that her sex is male, her gender is female, and she's attracted to men.

Cue Beanclown or The Thriller trying to argue that gender and sex are the same thing.

These are all fantastic arguments of Christ. You are also proving to be one of my best disciples, sitting alongside Beantown and The Thriller. Let me reiterate:

1. Yes, the church believes in equal rights. Except for allowing marriage, but that doesn't count.
2. Different people should be alienated for being different, it's the way of Christ.
3. If homosexuals were given equal rights, they would STILL BE COMPLAINING. About what, I don't know, but that means we shouldn't respect their current complaints because of future complaints.

Did I miss anything? I have given you a blessing, search for it as you go about your day tomorrow.

Yes yes, only those who follow me, JESUS CHRIST YOUR SAVIOR like yourself ( :) ) should be allowed to call their bond marriage now. This is a loving and Christ-like compromise. Do we have any gays who oppose this glorious proposition?

Very well done. You are correct Sir. I am in the beginning of my journey to change my sex to match my gender. It will be a long journey, but I will be happy with the results.

So if a big fat guy that wants to see or hear women snap a husky in a public restroom, all he would have to say is, "although I was born a man, I consider myself a woman." and it would be a OK for him to go into the bathroom if he was dressed up and had on makeup and claimed he was a woman? My dog told me the other day that he's not a dog, rather he's an orangutan. I totally knew it too, he's always eating bananas and trying to climb trees. I'm glad he cleared that up with me now I'm not so confused. Also, my friend told me about a time he went to the strip club and gave the strippers monopoly money. He said the strippers got made at him. He said to the strippers, "Well, them are fake boobies. When they're real, I'll give you real money. The strippers argued that they had surgeries, therefore, they were real. Also, it's a shame that they kicked Juanna Mann out of the WNBA. The chick had game!

Ok, that was a lot of words that didn't have any meaning whatsoever.

Or if it did, it's one of the stupidest comparisons I've ever seen, so I'm going with the lot of words with nothing behind it response.

Dude, you need to take a basic Gender Studies course. Believe it or not, people's gender and sex can be different. That's a fact. I like you, but you're quickly going down the path of Beanclown.

Why did you have to bring the bogus bathroom bigot argument to this thread? Good hell I'm sick of this bathroom bigot garbage being regurgitated. We had this argument on the old board, and I'm certainly not going into it again here.

Dude, it's just that Katie's constant playing the victim and dramatizations are getting old. She already lied in the thread title and put some smug comment of "ha." Do you expect me to prance around and agree and say, "Oh, I'm so sorry for you. I feel so bad. Those Mormons are the root of all evil. Let's go watch a movie!" I don't care if Katie is a trans, I really don't. But I don't have to hear it every two seconds.
