What's new

Life Lesson

We moved on from the past. First Boozer, then Sloan, Deron, and Memo. While everyone listed is talented, they also didn't mesh the best with others.
Boozer and Memo was always going to fail on the defensive end. Now we have two young studs who seem to like to play defense, and two vets who
actually seem to be improving on defense. It's a miracle.

As I said for the last few years we needed fresh blood. Didnt know Deron would be apart of that change, but it ended up working out for us.
We had to move on from Sloan. While he was a good coach, he was a control freak, didn't communicate with the players well, and demanded his way or the highway.
Well, that simply doesn't work in todays game very often. Sloan ended up quiting on the team midseason, and of course most of the blame goes to Deron.
I'm glad the circus has left town.

The reason I made this post is that last year a friend of mine and I went to both the 76ers and the Boston games on the road. We sat behind the Jazz bench close enough to hear the conversations and see the none verbal communication. Everything was negative. I think it started with Deron and Coach S. These two obviously weren't getting along. Then we also noticed Raja and Coach Sloan get into it. Raja was burnt to the middle of the court and Coach Sloan made a comment. Raja fired back and Coach Sloan just ducked his head. (interesting because we now force baseline) Anyways after the game we were given passes that allowed us to hang around longer. When the players dressed and came out to see there families they didn't talk to each other and you feel the tension. That road trip was the beginning of the end. In my opinion it all started with Negativity from the leaders of the team in Deron Williams and Coach Sloan. So when I see Millsap and AJ hugging during a game, when I see players happy and joking on the bench and when I see a coaching staff with a positive attitude I start to wonder just how much it effects a team. Lets just hope we can stay this positive when we hit that February and March schedule.

Great insight into what has transpired in the past year "GoJazz". Would much rather form my opinions based on sources like you than the news media. This (the collapse) was happening to my team and i didn't have a clue at the time what was wrong. Which is why i am again posting on a Jazz board and not listening to pre game or post game shows or reading any of the sheer garbage (written by people who seem to hate Utah and the Jazz) that passes for sports news in the local rags.

Both my friend and I knew that things were really bad around that time just based on how the players were interacting. What we didn't know was the extent or the behind the scenes stuff. (and still don't)

I couldn't agree more. Maybe i"m just drinking the Jazz kool aid heavily, and I know the season is early and a lot of home games etc., but I'm still amazed how quick the transformation has happened.
