What's new

Life - official thread

Okay, so yesterday being a "holiday" let's make this Tuesday the new yesterday. <---- wtf?

<---- this guy swam a lot with the kids this weekend. Too hot for much of anything else.

- making a big pot of spicy as hell chili this Friday (to take off the outdoor chill)

- going to try to watch a couple "best movies of all time" I have yet to see.

- Muhammed Ali named GOAT athlete from KY. Duh.

- hot dry heat is hot

- pissed that my wife's jeep blows colder air than my got damn Escalade. Wtf.

- last night I entertained my kids by shaving a two week beard right down the center. Symmetrical as ****.

- looking fwd to having Cousins on the team in the near future.

Everybody have a great week. Peace.

skinny dippin' under the cottonwoods in the mud holes of the Santa Clara river?

that's the way to get the locals to vote for your resort.

Grandma passed away yesterday. She was an incredible woman. I'll miss her greatly. While she was in hospice, my younger cousin stole $2500 cash from my grandparents house and a bunch of jewelry, including my grandmas wedding ring, is missing. Just had to get her fix I guess. Sad what meth will do to a person.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry man, Bring honor to her legacy.

Is this a complain about life thread or a bragging about life thread? Yeah, too lazy to read it.

My complaint - when the medication is worse than the disease.

My bragging - I have the world's most awesome babies in my family (great-nieces and nephew). I got to spend much of the weekend smooching on them.

Just read up a bit. So sorry for your loss. My job involves working with a lot of drug addicts who do terrible things to their family members to feed their habits. It is so very sad.

Life is never all good or all bad.
This thread was created to just kind of share what's going and random musings.
I attempt to post at the start of each week... but usually forget.

Right now I'm:

Running the busiest summer quarter in company history
learning banjo
taking guitar lessons from an ol' time guitar master in LA
doing another wave of home renovations
writing an essay for an anthropology journal
running a book club
reading in another book club
taking care of a ****load of animals

too much, braughs.

Been trying to finish my home's garden wall out of fieldstone. The stone is no problem but the roots, oy vey. It's taking me way longer because of roots everywhere.

This is an epic post, imo.

Hits so much of what I wish I had time to do.
NAOS.. sometime I need to corrupt you with an "archaeology" outing. Big trucks, lots of dirt, lots of virgin territory (artifacts), and lots of beer.

After reading that post I'm surprised NAOS has time to peruse Jazzfanz on a daily basis... LOL

We've had a busy year. Had our fourth child. Oldest turning 8 this month. I'm signing a contract for my first job out of residency. We're going to start building a house that should be a permanent move where our kids will grow up. We just got back from a ~3 week trip (paternity leave) to Utah. Ate at all the favorites (The Philadelphian, Kohinoor, Mi Ranchito, Beto's, Iggy's, etc.) This was the first year I didn't really follow the NBA draft at all. Looks like that worked out in my favor. My wife and I will be taking our first trip sans kids (unless you count the two days we flew to Texas to find housing back when we had two kids) in a couple months and then will be back out in Utah for a wedding later this year. Fun times!

Another awesome post.
Congrats infectionbro!

Do tell on the home renovations. Pictures if possible.

I moved into this ****shack about 2.5 years ago. It had a messy yard and an old garage out back that was falling down + full of trash. Old, disgusting trash. The only way my girlfriend and I could fit into it (she moved in just over a year ago) was for me to totally overhaul the garage and convert it into living space and storage. And we've put tons into the yard. Everything has an eclectic and salvaged feel because, well, most of it is. I like working with what's on-hand. Now that we have two different structures to live in + a nice, tended yard to relax in as we move between them, things are super good. But, the yard and the garage need one more wave of improvements + I'm building a little sleeping nook in this big old avocado tree that's out back. I'll post a few pictures when it's all done later this year.

sounds good to me, mayne. Depending on the area, I have some insanities/preoccupations to lend to that kind of trip.

Did your new development ever get a proper name?

My time on here has gone down for the past couple of weeks. And, no kids, so....

My life has really good flexibility right now, so I'm trying to capitalize on that.

Awesome man. Fixing stuff up is a blast. Glad you're enjoying it and the new place. Would love to see the sleeping nook. Would also love to have an avocado tree, but that ain't happening lol.
