Life - official thread

Now I'm curious if I've ever tried to PR for a 2,000. I think I have and oddly enough, I think my goal going in was 7 minutes...I will have to check my logs. About 99% I didn't hit that.

I still remember my sprint record for one minute was 31 calories expended. Had that ****er cranked up to 10 on resistance and had decent upper body then.

You sure? That's flying. Like almost good enough to compete in fairly major competitions.

Let's assume it was 7:10. That's 1:47.5 per 500M. That's fast. Very. You're a very strong guy which helps but you don't strike me as the type to have the cardio to sustain that pace for so long.
I'm positive. Rowing is part of the workout at my gym. It was PR week. I did 500 meters in1:42. A couple days later I did the 2000 meters is 7:02. My goal was under 7 minutes, and I was pissed I didn't make it. I do 100 meters in under 15 seconds on the reg.

I don't know what brand the rowers are, but they don't have a resistance adjustment. They have a paddle thing that spins in actual water.

Within the last four weeks I've lost my dad and one of my all-time best friends, and I've also fallen in love with an amazing woman. It's been quite a month.

I rowed 17 miles on the Colorado River Friday and Saturday. And the week before that I rowed 25. Camped in the wilderness on the river a few nights. It's a great time.

I've seen those. Not sure if they're more or less accurate. I'll do some research. And bro if you can do that that well for 2,000 meters and 100M in 15 seconds, your 500M time should be much faster. I think mine is around 1:29. I'm thinking if you tried to PR for 500M and went through the 100M in 18 seconds and maintained that pace for 300 of the meters, you'd be at 300 meters at 54 seconds and could wrap up with a couple 19 second 100's for 1:32. But the better approach is to go through at about 16.5-17 seconds and at about the 55 second mark, just absolutely go balls out, like it's a kick in the last 200 meters of a race. I think you could break 1:30 def and possibly even approach 1:25.

Either way, mad props.

I've been a bit concerned about my heart so I've been scared to go balls out. I need to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist and keep forgetting. The old ticker has just been feeling a bit funny here or there.

Honestly I think for a 500M, most people can go insanely fast for about 300 meters and then get very fatigued both muscularly and cardiovascularly and sort of ***** out. Outside of dying from a heart issue on the spot, nothing is gonna happen if you (the general you but you too you big stud) just focus on one row at a time, balls out, that last 200. Literally, just focus and continue rowing with all your might as fast as you can, as strong as you can using all your muscles. Those last 30 seconds will be up so quickly, all that "agony" will feel like it was so silly to even worry about, afterward.

That was my problem in the 500. Talked myself into thinking it wasn't a big deal and to go all out right from the start. I faded hard.

Much of it, like running, is experience and getting a feel for the pace, where you can feel the difference between all out and 100M in 15 seconds, or going at about 95% effort and coming through 100M in 16 seconds instead. Just take your foot off the pedal a little bit. I'd say you wanna go about 90-93% effort and through 100M around 17.00 and 200M around 33.50 (second 200 should be a little faster than first 100 since you have a "running start") with 300M being a tiny bit slower and maybe coming through around 50.5 seconds. You'd then need to row just (sounds so easy) 37 seconds for the last 200 to hit 1:27.5.

You can do it!

Makes me wanna do some balls out rowing now at shorter distances.

The Lord works in myseterious ways, my man.
I'm hesitant to share details here, but you'd be blown away by what has happened. And that's an understatement. If I wrote my recent real life experiences as a fictional story readers would say I had stretched plausibility way, way, way too far.

You should write it all down, could be a novel in there somewhere.

Okay, tease.

Strained my left hammy on Sunday and was probably compensating a little yesterday and strained my right.
