What's new

Lillard available?

So did he regress a lot this year? Or is it that his team performed well and him last year?

I think it's as simple as the players that are around him don't play to his strengths. Portland added a bunch of players that need the ball to be successful.

So, it takes the ball away from Lillard, reducing his effectiveness.

He is shooting the same amount this year and his FG%, Offensive rating, TS%, FT attempts and % and his usage is slightly down but pretty much the same.

His team is worse and Lillard is playing worse defense this year. Lillard's team was slighlty better built last year, the west was weaker and many of his teammates performed quite well. Lillard also has had another 20+ point scorer next to him his entire career. He has had a better scorer than Hayward to play next to in CJ and before that LA.

Also Hayward carried the most injured and youngest team to within 4 games of what Lillard did. Hayward is carrying a better team to a much better record than Lillard has/is.

I want Lillard but he is a borderline #1 just like Hayward. My hope in getting Lillard is that Snyder can get him to play better defense and we can hide him a little better. Lillards defense is worse than Exums offense.

Ron, I don't agree completely, but I think you are right on a lot of it.

Lillard's team sucks. His effort isn't there. I think that's a lot of it.

I think if he was on a team like Utah, with a shot at the #2 seed, his defensive effort goes up. And the reality is, we don't need him to be a defensive stopper. Just solid, and we'd be a top 3 NBA team.

I agree and hope for that. Although I dont think it would be worth giving up Hayward to get him. I also would be bummed if we gave up Exum for him but would be reluctantly excited and think its worth it. The sad truth is we have almost no chance at getting Lillard though.

Yes to all of that.

Gasp, what's this? Hayward is now #9 on the MVP ladder? He passed Paul George? Maybe one day he can catch Lillard.

Wait what's that you say? Lillard isn't even in the top 15?! How can this be! green enjoy the light hearted fun this is intended as.

Paul George>>Hayward. Only a biased-*** Jazz fan would say otherwise. If we had George instead of Hayward, our team would have 3 to 6 more wins right now.

Yeah right, why don't you ask Hill who plays better team ball, who he'd rather play with?
