What's new

List of coaches Corbin is better than.

I personally like that D'Antoni has underacheived everywhere when he made the Suns relevant and rescued a completely decimated Knicks team.

Yup. Awesome how he took NYK from nothing to a 32 win ball club. Then 29.

D'Antoni made the Suns relevant. It had nothing to do with a 2 time MVP, or with Stoudemire playing like an MVP, or All-Star Shawn Marion, or Joe Johnson earning his max contract, or Q Rich or Barbosa when they were actually good. It was all D'Antoni because.

They say you have to hit rock bottom first...

Every post you make is so refreshing. Telling us all how much smarter you are than the entire profession who hires pieces of **** that can't substitute like your genius would, and intentionally lose billionaires a bunch of money. Srsly, why don't these professionals get everything you do?

Says the guy who says burks suck, kwame kanter, and compares hayward to herpes

So its fine to slam the players on the team who dont get to play the minutes they deserve but not the coach who doesn't play them? Ok

So the suns were good and it was because of the players and not the coach? The jazz are slightly above average and corbin is amazing?

It's interesting that Mark Jackson and Vinny Del Negro are good coaches now. I'm pretty sure they were hot trash last year. What happened? Did these guys climb a mountain and meditate 40 days or something?

Seems to me the main thing is winning vs talent. Utah is doing that at a better pace, with a rougher 1st half schedule, with zero high profile players, than a good portion of the NBA.

The team by all appearances has no locker room issues, the players expected to improve are doing so, and two huge problems have been getting addressed those being high PnR defense and defensive rebounding.

The Jazz are #9 in the NBA in assist ratio despite the fact that we've got flotsam at PG, run the offense through a guy fans have labeled a black hole, and have zero elite playmakers.

If Ty was the coach JF thinks he is this team wouldn't have even won 15 games so far this year and half the players would be publicly jumping ship.

the question is, does corbin have an impact as a coach? no. everyone on this thread might be a better coach. just answer me a question: where is corbin good at in coaching? give me an answer and i'd say okey. he is one of the most overrated coaches in this league. i don't think he gets the maximum out of the players. we have a tradition at being horrible in the road.

Good post.... valid praise for corbin.... however alot of the criticism he gets is valid as well.

^this
/was going to contribute, but you pretty much said it all for me.

or let me ask you this question: if you would give the head coach job to one of the asisstant coaches the jazz have, would they be any worse than corbin? i don't think so. corbin is so easy to replace, some of you guys are overrating him incredibly.

there are three types of coaches:

1. those who get the most out of the talent and exceed expectations even if no one could have expected nearly this kind of a result.

2. those who give what you expect or slightly more or less.

3. those who have no clue and bring nothing to the table, destroy any chemistry, more losses than you would expect from a team with this talent.

corbin is one of those coaches who is average at best. only a handfull of coaches are great in this business. most coaches are average and easy to replace, like corbin.

D'Antoni - Has underachieved everywere he's been
Doc Rivers - Could only win with an All Star cast.
SVG - Clearly underachieved with a couple Dwight teams.
Mike Brown - umm.
Larry Drew - can't do anything with very talented teams.
Carlesimo - Has gotten fired from every single team.
Byron Scott - Can't do anything with the best point guards in the game at the time.

That's just a start.

Corbin is better than NONE of those clowns....and never will be. Maybe Larry Drew, but that's about it.

the gm is much more important, imo. drafts and trades and signings bring the players. you have to collect the players who fit the team's system and needs the most. you need good scouts and a good background of informations. many underrate the front office: they give the coaches the ingredients and the coach has the recipe to produce the best result. but you need some good ingredients to have a chance to cook something good.

Utterly not true. Rivers first coaching gig was with the Orlando Magic in the 99-00 season. This squad was basically a bunch of veteran nobodies and unknown youngsters, and was widely tipped to finish dead last. The roster included vets like Darrell Armstrong (team captain and scoring leader at 16.2 ppg), Chris Gatling, Tariq Adbul-Wahid, Monty Williams and Bo Outlaw, as well as youngsters Ron Mercer (acquired mid-season in a trade for Gatling and TA-W), Matt Harpring (who played only 4 games before being sidelined by an ankle injury), Pat Garrity, Corey Maggette, Ben Wallace, Michael Doleac and Anthony Parker (who was cut after 16 games). Most notably, the roster featured John Amaechi who scored 10.5 ppg with a season high of 31. Rivers somehow got this group to a 41-41 record, missing the playoffs by a single game, and was awarded Coach of the Year.

Corbin didnt play the game with high basketball IQ.In fact when on the Jazz ,he was the dam wrecking ball to the Jazz plans. So now because he remembers a few ways Sloan coached he is now a coaching braintrust.I say hell no,Corbin coaches not to lose, thats why he never takes a risk that good coaches make. That is why we suck on the road and cant even hang on to big leads at home.Ty is not even average. He inherited the job, remember he didnt do anything to earn it,just right time right place.Jeez we could get many coaches that are head and shoulders above this clown.wake up jazz fanz we have a super talented team floating a little above average. With a better coach the sky is the limit.

Mike Brown is not a coach any longer. I'll say Corbin is better than him.
The rest of your list I would take over Corbin.

if corbin was a good coach...

... he would give more minutes to kanter, favors, burks (and hayward) since all have all-star potential.
... he would trust in the youth more and would think in the longterm as shortterm.
... this team would have an identity.
... this team would have an offensive game and better defense.
... this team would manage to win more games in the road.
... the substitution patterns would make more sense.
... he would know when exactly to take timeouts.
... he would be a good teacher and develop our young studs more.
... he would be intelligent.
... he would have a clue about basketball.
... he would not be the bit** of the veterans.
... he would have BALLS.
... he would have BALLS.
... he would have BALLS.
