List of coaches Corbin is better than.

The anti-Corbin tirades on this webpage are both tiresome, and misinformed.

"Corbin sucks!!". Why? "Becuz he DOESNT PLAY BURKS! AND HE RUNS OUR OFFENSE THROUGH AL".

Lol. You guys are funny.

SVG and Doc Rivers are radically better coaches than Corbin.

However, some other fairly weak coaches include Lawrence Frank, Avery Johnson, Jaques Vaughn and the Pacers' coach. Doug Collins is so-so also.

I am an anti- Corbin fan due to his character which does not let him create new things after Sloan, same patterns, meaningless rotation decisions, no creative plays. He does not have balls to take a risk to give youngsters enough min, gets panicked all time when the game's tied and becomes happy to go ahead mediocrity.

Two thoughts.....

First, does anyone really believe that Ty Corbin, is calling the shots on this team? Sure he might hold the clipboard, he even tells people to go in now or then, but he is a nice guy, a passive aggressive yes man. KOC controlls, because Mama Miller allows him.

Second, NBA coaches don't have that much to do. 24 seconds to get a shot off, official timeouts at regular intervals so players don't get winded, 6 fouls so no need to manage that,. The NBA game has been stripped of much of basketballs potential in order to showcase the stars athleticism. Yawn. The rule is: Coach keep your star player happy and a majority of the guys buying in and the second rule is rent don't buy.

^ don't agree. I know u said that largely in jest, but I think you are wildly underestimating the value of great coaching (both practice and in game).

D'Antoni - Has underachieved everywere he's been
Doc Rivers - Could only win with an All Star cast.
SVG - Clearly underachieved with a couple Dwight teams.
Mike Brown - umm.
Larry Drew - can't do anything with very talented teams.
Carlesimo - Has gotten fired from every single team.
Byron Scott - Can't do anything with the best point guards in the game at the time.

That's just a start.

I stopped at Doc Rivers. Who honestly would take Ty Corbin over Doc Rivers?

Ty Corbin is a joke, put away favors, kanter and hayward off this team and this is bobcats right there or minnesota when bigal was there

2nd unit is too talented and deep, he has that advantage over the other teams

how many times that 2nd unit just saved the game

No offense to you, Xsy .. I just always find it funny when I catch us lauding mediocrity.

The Jazz are who the Jazz are .... The only reason the Jazz are even functioning as an NBA team right now is because they got lucky and drafted to of the best players of all time in the middle of the first round. We aren't going to pull the big names, we aren't going to get #1 picks, what the hell do people seriously expect? An NBA championship contender full of cast offs from other teams and a few lottery picks? Unless Kanter and Favors turn into dominant big men the Jazz are going to just be good not great and its not really fair or realistic to expect much else.

All true, but it doesn't discount the fact that 'almost .500' isn't something that should be used when citing something that's working.

The fact of the matter is that Corbin has a very average roster and is getting slightly above average results .... I have a very hard time believing any other NBA coach would increase the Jazz's win total by more than a game or two at most. Corbin isn't the problem, he isn't really the solution either but getting rid of him would be a huge waste of time. Now if he was greatly underachieving then ya, fire his ***, but I can't say that he is underachieving.

It's not just about the win total though. Is there any doubt we could have the same or similar win total while increasing out future win potential through better rotations and more minutes for our young cornerstones? Just saying.

One thing I'd like to see Corbin get his team to do is win more on the road (obviously). That's hard to teach when your go to guy is Al Jefferson and all the other players outside Mo are afraid of the spotlight in big moments. Bringing Hayward along should help. Kanter too but he just can't close at this point in his career.

Jazz playing just under .500 on the road would be serious contenders for a 4th playoff spot. I would consider that way overachieving for this team/coach.

With their last two train wreck seasons? Rivers couldn't win more than three games over Corbin last season, even with an All Star studded cast and Garnett playing at times like he was 30 again. Comparing what Corbin has done with nothing to what Rivers has not done with everything is laughable IMO.

Possibly maybe, I get what you are saying, and I don't necessarily agree with it but coaches in the NBA cant sit around and say well we are going to lose for a few year so just maybe maybe Burks, Kanter, Fesenko, Humphries, whomever you want to plug in might develop. Their job is to win right now, or they get fired, I know everyone thinks TyCo's job is infinitely safe but I doubt he is willing to test the waters to see if thats true.

Yes, there is some doubt.
