Good luck. I believe Franklin is Jason.

You wanna read the convo I had with myself begging my way back onto JF? Offered home cooked turkey dinner an all. I'd even pay it forward tonight by splitting this 30 year old bottle of Macallan Single Malt. Imma party like it's Jeffy extension day!

Okay. I admit I'm Jason, now bake me a turkey and pass the bottle.

Not enough options. $12mm is too much.

I doubt he'd accept less though.

I took the $12 mm option with the idea that you're potentially using it as a trade chip down the line than actually buying the player outright. The idea that Jefferson is totally worthless and should be dumped for a 2nd rounder has always been somewhat perplexing to me.

I've never thought that. I have wondered, however, if his salary too high and we'd have to take back too much in bad value for a trade. Which is why I've been predicting an expiring.

I dunno. The Jazz could end up taking a package deal from a team way under the cap like Houston. Or be a facilitator to get very good draft concessions back. The Jazz also have the ability to take on a little salary this upcoming season too if necessary.

In any event, while cap space is an asset and a resource that has to be managed dumping Jefferson just to dump him feels like something that would be regrettable later.

This has also been on my radar. I don't disagree with anything you said .. I'm just fearful we take back salaries of players not as good in the process. I may very well (hopefully) be wrong.

Exactly. I was looking for a 10M per option (though truthfully I think that's about 1-1.5M too much), but not on an escalating scale. A deal on the downward trajectory at 10.5M, 10M, and 9.5M would be what I'd consider. Otherwise, let someone dumb like Washington sign him.

if the Jazz resign him with the intent of him playing for the Jazz, then any amount is too large. he just doesn't fit here anymore. it's nothing personal, and I think he still has game, but his being here hurts Favors, Kanter, and possibly Sap. in his case I think I would rather let him walk for zip than commit any more years to him at any salary.
