lob #2

If you could get Paul George you do it. Wings like him are harder to find than bigs. Favs doesn't fit seamlessly with Gobert but he fits pretty good.

That said they would say no. Also, our management hasn't really shown they make small moves much so I don't see them making a move this big.

I have some other lobs... Is New Orleans ready to call this year done? I wonder what it would cost to get Tyreke. He's played really well for them and could plug a couple holes for us. With a smart coach that guy might have another level to his game. Doesn't fit great with burks but Alec might be the guy we end up moving this summer.

Also... Lou Williams. I wonder if we put trey in the starting lineup and brought Lou in as the super sub if it would solve some problems for us. I think Neto is a fine third string guard but I'm not sure there is much more there so I don't care about his development nearly as much as Lyles.

The Jazz are not going to get to the promised land by acquiring proven assets in most cases. You have to overpay. It's the Steph Curry's with glass ankles that miraculously haven't shattered, drafting PG @10, Gobert, Kawai etc that get you ahead. It's seeing something nobody else noticed and buying it cheap. Dwill and Melo didn't do that. Kevin Love and LBJ may not even get it done.

Dallas got Dirk before he was Dirk via trade.

Boston traded Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff and Sebastian Telfair, along with two first round picks in the 2009 NBA Draft for Kevin Garnett.

Bulls traded for Pippen before before he played an NBA game.

The spurs did well to get Aldridge and I still can't figure how they pulled it off, so it's not impossible, but we are going to have more chances at getting FAs that have a couple of imperfections and then get lucky that they don't matter.

What about Blake Griffin instead of PG? The Clips are playing well without him and throwing in Burks would give them some added (young) depth which they clearly could use. Plus the draft picks could also help the Clips possibly get younger and escape cap hell. Griffin's range is quickly expanding out to the three point line, so maybe he is a better fit with Rudy than Derrick is? I know he is a whiny punk, but that is probably a lot less annoying when he is on your team.

Griffin/Paul/Jordan + 6th man of the year Crawford couldn't get it done so I don't to do this. I think Blake is too much a minus defender.

I agree... did not mean to insinuate that this deal would lead us to a championship, but I think both guys would have a good role now and could be good buy low fits.

I do think that while we look for the move that puts us over the top we should still improve the team. I think Dante becoming great or hitting big on a draft pick is the only way we hit that contender level, but don't ignore the side deals that lead up to those teams becoming great. GSW moved Ellis for Bogut... made trades to clear cap space for Iggy... both were known players who had struggled with injuries a bit in Boguts case and diminished value in Iggy's case. Tyreke seems like a really talented guy... not sure if he has the right attitude, but I don't think he's a cancer. He's never had a great basketball situation either.

Hate to burst the bubble but if a superstar becomes available, Boston is getting him with their absolute insane amount of assets they can offer.

People are underestimating the fact Favors and Burks each have very good contracts.

This.

Haywards my guy, but he's the one u trade because we also have Hood, and think we get a better return on Hayward then Favors. Not saying they should actively look to trade Hayward, but if an offer comes along that fits then pull the trigger. Favors and Burks deals are too good to throw away.

If anything you trade Hayward. Cause there is no way he doesn't opt out. But then again, no team will trade for him knowing that.

U can still trade him due to the fact it's easier to sign a free agent from your own team, so there's still value. Also not much difference from the cabs trading for Love in a contract year.

I'm not even close to being sold on Lyles (although I like him). And I would jump on NAOS' trade without a second thought, regardless of Favors' injury history. Favors is a nice player, but George is an MVP candidate. I think Indy hangs up the phone.
I agree...Indy hangs up the phone. But if we took the picks off the table and offered Favors and Hayward instead, I think Indy has to seriously think about it. That's a lot to give up, but PG is a top 5 player in the NBA, you ain't getting a player of that caliber without giving up a lot...

we were in an excellent position this last FA period, too. Does our track record give you confidence?

Last year versus next year is a bit of a false comparison since we are moving forward with a strategy that is moving from one phase to the next.

Once they decide who the young keepers will be (it is not everyone they have on the team now), and they have a vision for their development and playing time needs, they will move some and upgrade with complementary vets. Or parlay some fraction of their young talent and picks into a top player on a team that is shifting to rebuild. Key is to find the right trade partners (one who values Alec Burks, perhaps?).

Siro, can you hook this guy up with some rosary or anal beads? tia

Yes. Trade for pg13. And win a championship with new scottie pippen and white scottie pippen.

Pacers are 23-19 though, so no reason to think they would trade their franchise player for an injury prone 6th man and a PF with back issues. You would have to think a George/Hayward/Gobert team would start winning a ton of games so our 1st round picks wouldnt be that valuable.
