Lockout!!!

Have you heard something Shad? So far no news about today that i have seen

All I have heard is that little progress has been made and the possibility of a shortened season is looking more and more likely. If they can't get something done by the first week of January(which is still a long ways off) then there will be no season at all. Then again, maybe Stern will decide to push that date up to try and put more pressure on the players.

One thing to keep in mind as Ric Bucher pointed out is that the Olympics may inhibit the option to extend the NBA season into the summer. It thus leaves even less time for a deal to get done to salvage the season.

Looks like we're going to miss some games. Might as well rename this thread to "CJ's little slice of heaven"

...I don't like the sound of things! Owners are willing to go 50-50? That's ridiculous! Players may take that deal and we could see NBA basketball alot sooner than we need to!

I would be more then happy to wait if this turned out to help the jazz. Otherwise i am not sure if I have that much interest in basketball anymore. Players dictate way too much on what they want to do.

Same here. I will turn my interest and attention to other things in the meantime. When it eventually comes back I am sure I will watch games. How many, who knows?

Yeah. **** free will. That **** sucks.

its funny how when i watch the players press conference i only see big name guys/ guys who made their money

what about the minimum guys the rookies they cant hold out 1 year.

for example a guy who was only in the nba for 1 year at about 1-2 mil it looks a lot now.
but the guy had to move to another city bought house car/ mortage atleast those guys cant hold out long. kobe will lend them money.

The fans should just simply give up. Then they couldn`t fight over their millions anymore, and make them look like total asses, which apparantly most are. Players and owners, but probably more players.

They are all just ****ting on the fans, so we should **** on them.

Yeah, the media isn't gonna bother photographing or quoting Joe Journeyman for the articles, and the NBPA would probably have the big stars in the room anyway.

What you say, DJ, is more reason why if they put a 50-50 split to a vote, it would pass because the minimum players would vote overwhelmingly for it, where as the eight-digit players might be less enthusiastic to do so.

This is U.S. politics all over again; the wealthy are a lot fewer, but they have more airtime than the rest combined.

I bet this all ends with 49% going to the owners, and 51% going to the players. Players are happy that they at least got more than the owners. There will also be a lot of little changes made to contracts but nothing the casual NBA would ever know about. Thats my prediction.

But still i saw some press conference fisher was talking(offcourse he is the press) but he was surrounded by eight digit players. got me wondering why i did not see a rookie like gordon hayward who honestly financial situation is a bit different. or a ronnie price type a guy. no i only saw prima donna allstars(crymello, wade, bron, baron davis). wondering how much of a voice those guys have i know some cant afford to miss the season/ half a season.

i would put pressure on those guys something allong the line if 1 game is missed we will cancel the whole season. so those guys might be inclined to put some more presure on those pirma donnas thats why I want to either miss none games or whole seasons.

will give the 8 digit players less power and gives the journeymen a lil bit more power. i'm sick and tired of prima donnas owning the nba and refs and such

Exactly the better deal the owners get the better off the Jazz will probably be. No way we are ever going to out spend Cuban, Allen, the Knicks, Lakers, etc. So being patient and hoping the players cave should benefit us.
