Lockout!!!

The rating from this past years playoff was the biggest ever also, right? I'm sure that helps bring money in.

I think it was telling that the union was ready almost from the start to concede some percentage points on BRI. As has been mentioned, I don't think they gave up money to just be nice. Whether it is an issue dealing entirely with revenue sharing etc is beyond me.

I just think there are too many big story lines in the NBA right now to let a season go to waste.

Kobe's last chances to add more championships to his legacy.

The ongoing Wade/Lebron saga.

Griffin making the Clippers relevant

Dirk becoming the greatest PF of all time?

Utah rebuild (okay, only to us is this exciting)

Pretty racist stuff, CJ, and very one-sided as well. Not really true about the majority of black players, some I would agree, but only a few.

"American sports fans, particularly those who consistently shell out the hundreds of dollars it takes to attend a professional game, are fed up with black professional basketball players in particular and black professional athletes to a lesser degree.

Yeah, let's cut through all the garbage and get to the real issue. The people paying the bills don't like the product, don't like the attitude, don't like the showboating and don't like the flamboyance.

The NBA, which relies heavily on African-American players, is at the forefront of fan backlash. We're witnessing a clash of cultures. A predominately white fan base is rejecting a predominately black style of play and sportsmanship.

As long as the customer base is white, the standard for appropriate sportsmanship, style of play and appearance should be set by white people.

This is fair, particularly when the athletes/employees earn millions of dollars and have the freedom to do whatever — and I mean whatever — they want when they're not playing or practicing.

If African-American players are unwilling to accept this reality, NBA owners will speed up the internationalization of their team's rosters. Many African-American players with NBA-quality skill will soon find themselves circling the country playing basketball with Hot Sauce and the And 1 Tour while Nowitzki collects a $10 million NBA check.

On a scale of one to 10, America's loathing of NBA players is at an 11, which is at least two points higher than all the other professional athletes.

The black players will have no one to blame but themselves."

Anybody out there agree with THIS assessment?

.....all statements made by Jason Whitlock....by the way.

I'm going to throw a parade when you go and get yourself banned. But I'm not clear what you meant. Care to continue to clarify your position?

It seems to me that white players get whacked in the face an awful lot in the NBA. Is it racist of me to notice that?

Are you seriously saying that black players go out of their way to hit white players in the face? No, I haven't noticed that.

I did see Malone knock David Robinson out cold one time.

.....just thought Jason's observations shed light on why nobody cares much about NBA basketball these days.....why most side with the owners.....and why a whole year lockout wouldn't bother the mainstream public at all.

OK, but thus far the influx of European players hasn't diminished the number of black players at all. Percentage wise they're replacing White American players.

As far as the "loathing of NBA Players" this is nowhere near as bad as the 1994 baseball strike in terms of anger from the fans.

I like Whitlock; but he has a tendancy to just pull stuff out of his fat *** sometimes.

...ok, it's 10 pm eastern time...what gives??? Is the lockout still on? Has there been a compromise? Is the season officially off? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Marbury gives his take....and then get's a response! Pretty good stuff, huh?

"Michael Jordan has always been a class act, with maybe the exception of how he cheated on his wife & ex-wife, while Stephon Marbury has always been an ignorant thug with a ghetto rap (pun intended) and is not much smarter than other NBA "geniuses' who got mostly blackballed from the league, like J.R. Rider and Latrell Sprewell. I'll wager his Chinese teammates have about as much love & respect for him as they can fit in-between their chopsticks when having to eat with him on the bus rides from game-to-game.

He's a headphones-on, "I'm on the phone", it's "all about me", got-no-care-for-you punk who never matured, and never apologizes---A male-chauvanistic di¢k who twitters and writes on his facebook like the 3rd grade was as far as his edumacation ever got 'im. Which is probably why you can't even read his tattoos."

Had to stop carolinajazz, he was going for a five bagger.

PS- I'm imagining from the lack of updates on the lockout talks that it went similarly to the opening scene in "Gangs of New York", but with more broken bones.

Just read an article on the talks. They are still in discussion, let's hope for the best
