So I'm at USU for 8 week summer session (and I'll be here for Fall and Spring). So far I am in week 3 and it has been absolutely dreadful. It seems there is just nothing going on, and it might just be because summer is so laid back, but its just to the extremes on how little is actually going on (on campus) as far as I know. In the first little while, I was finding my groove with studying and was pretty busy, but now I've found my groove and have room for "spare time".

So I'm just looking for something to do later in the day other than FHE and scripture study. I'm not familiar with Logan, so I would have no idea if there is some sort of Indie- Liberal scene that I just don't know about. I'm willing to try anything, however the whole "camaraderie in mormonism" thing does not really rub me the right way, so I don't really want to just got to FHE or singles dinner, just so I can have some girl tell me about her "list". And I'm not a fan of the spiritualists who try to convince me to go on a mission. Seminary and 18 years of proselytism did not convince me, so I don't think that guy has anything new to tell me. (I am LDS, and I'm considering it, I'm just not big into spiritualism. If I go, it's because I want to spread a beacon of happiness to other people, not because its my "spiritual duty".)

So give me some ideas of what is going on in Logan.

I lived in Cache Valley for a couple of years and I have a couple of great suggestions for you. Get drunk or leave. If you're looking for some excitement and relief from boredom... you're screwed. Unless you are into hunting, fishing or other outdoors type stuff there is nothng to do. I guess you could go to the roller-rink in Logan and cruise for Jr. High chicks but I wouldn't recommend it.

I appreciate your suggestions.

Do you like to fish? Also, I hear they drag every Saturday night in Logan. What kinda car do you have? Geo Metros are pretty cool, I guess.

LOL Sorry I couldn't be of more help but it really is that bad.

yeah... probably
I chose USU, because thats where all my friends are going... but i really did not consider the implications, of someone like myself going to a school which is essentially BYU Logan.

Um, you really think that's why? I mean, really? Did you forget what state you're in? Bro?

dude I'm just delusional... because in all reality I've probably made a terrible choice. And the left side of the brain is saying to the right side of the brain "seriously... WTF" and the right side of the brain is saying "well maybe...."

Why does Vinyl always crack on Utah? Isn't he the one always asking how long it takes to drive to Utah? If Utah was that bad, why would you consider driving to it from out of state? Also, have you ever been to Utah? Utah freaking rocks. There is so much to do here. I lived in NORCAL for two years, and I'm telling you, I'm much happier living in Utah since moving back a year ago.

A mormon with nothing to do in Logan?

I've officially seen everything.

whoa man... don't go throwing the M word around. I identify with the religion (sometimes)... not with the people. Have you ever talked to one of them??? They can't go two miinutes without bringing up their kids, their mission, or their ward.

Maybe pick up golf or buy a playstation..... or get a slutty girlfriend. Or go on a mission, walking around and living in Boston for two years was fun and sounds better than Logan.

It is extra dead there in the summer. Give it time. Once football season starts that can be something. In the winter you'll have skiing. There are MANY TIMES more poeple there once fall semester starts and the young, innocent, but very curious freshman women invade the campus in hoards. After that fraterity issue a year or two back, I'm not sure about fraternity party opportunities anymore. La Tienda in Franklin Idaho (take main street north a half hour to the Idaho border) will offer beer with roughly double the % of alcohol as Utah beer. The White Owl at 36 West Center Street or The Factory Pizzaria at 119 South Main Street will be popular when students start to return to town. There are a few movie theaters. The basketball team is usually good and the Spectrum is the most rowdy crowd in the state (even BYU and Utah players admit that in interviews - so has ESPN). Look for Wild Bill. He knows how to have a good time. Is that big white dome still there just north of the Wall-Mart (the one at the north end of town)? I think that had some sort of recreation center in it.

Interesting take. Does your mother know you talk like this? How will your future kids feel about this? Have you talked to your bishop?

You know.... you provide a very good point. It may come down to seeing where I'm at in a year (i'm still 18)... if Logan blows chunks, I might explore my options in Idaho (or at The U)... slutty girlfriend is good too.

And I'm probably being haste... but I'm honestly sick of just sitting around waiting for SI review sessions, here in the summer. And I'm going to be seriously upset with myself, if I end up screwing myself and not nurturing my beliefs, because I chose a college which does not fit me.
