LOL at delusional BYU fans

Conan and Salty need to go to time out....

5 mins in the corner the both of you.

This thread has broken down into pure awesomeness.

Broken down? It was that way from the start. Keep up, Son.

Good work, fellas.

TROLL meet GETTING TROLLED

I think this thread needs to be renamed. How 'bout calling it the TIME-OUT CORNER?
Or maybe just "the corner"

....But seriously, when the dude brags about his trolling and gets a kick out of ruining threads, it's time the mods did something about it.

Like I said, it's one thing to post an honest opinion that isn't popular, it's another thing to go out of your way to piss everyone off, personally insult people, and try to ruin every thread you post in.

While Trout is 100% right that the above quote is back-seat modding, it doesn't mean Salty is wrong with what he's saying. In fact, he's right on all counts.

There's one person in ths forum that personally derails every single Ute/Cougar thread. Even if it gets heated between other board members, the topic seems to be able to move forward unitl a certain somebody enters the equation. Perfect example: Trout and I have had a few heated exchanges in some Rivalry threads, and maybe even a few insults have been traded but we're still able to stay fairly on topic and we also manage not to completely derail the thread. I think the same can be said about any of the other Ute and Cougar fans even though we have plenty on both sides that are extremely bias and somewhat delusional.

Personally, I don't care if anything is done to Conan. He's a fool, and the entire board see's it. It's just that every time he enters a Rivalry thread, he does so with the sole intent to be a pain in the ***. He thinks it's funny because he obviously has the maturity of a 10 year old but each time he gets away with it, he's basically sending a big F-U to the mods.

ok on a tangent.

how do Ute fans expect to do in the Pac-12? What do you say your chances of winning a conference championship in the first 5 years are?

I think BYU made a pretty good decision here - if they were to stay in the MWC while Utah moves up to a big-time conference, they risked becoming an after-thought in their own state. Going independent allows them to keep up with the joneses, and the tv negotiations that they've pulled off with ESPN have already validated that decision. BYU hasnt been a nationally relevant football team in the last ten years, and i don't anticipate that changing anytime soon. By going independent they lock themselves into a Navy-like niche, a solid, competent football game, that gets many of its games nationally televised, even though its not competing for national allocades. Thats a good deal.

Additionally the money that football brings in, along with the move to the WCC can help the basketball team really become a national power. Basketball is probably the better sport for BYU anyway, im envisioning recruiting pipelines in brazil, the phillipines and other emerging hotbeds with growing LDS presences.

With the exception of BYU fans, most other people I've talked to from different fan bases seems to think Utah can do fairly well for themselves in the Pac 12. Aside from USC's most recent dominant run, what program in the Pac 10 is head and shoulders above where Utah is at this point and time? Even with the sanctions I think USC presents a big roadbock for Utah. After that, the playing field gets leveled pretty quickly. I think Oregon is the next best and I'd have to say that Utah went to Oregon last year and was 1 or 2 plays away from winning a game in which they played pretty awful. They handily beat Cal in a bowl game last year that was in Cal's home state, Stanford is on the way up but not better than Utah, and the same can be said about UCLA. I'd also put both Arizona Schools, Washington and obviously Washington State below Utah as well.

As it sits right now, I think it's fair to put Utah in the mix with Oregon, Oregon St and Cal as the teams that can step up and win the conference in the next 5 years if USC starts to slip due to sanctions (and Lane Kiffin).

I don't think that's an outrageous statement.

Salty - this is a personal attack. If you are going to call someone out for this why turn around and do it?

Because Colton said he couldn't see a difference in my initial post and Conan's trolling. So I started responding like for like to demonstrate.

I didn't start the personal attacks. All I did was reply. And it was only to make a point that it was not the same as my initial post.

I actually made a post explaining all of this but it got deleted by a mod.

My take on this tread is this. BYU well make 5 times as much money going independent with the ESPN deal and BYUTV than it ever could in the MWC. That alone makes the move worth while. And in my oppinion is the only real reason they made this move.

Utah got a great deal getting into a top conference. Congrats to the Utes. And I have to agree with the post that said the Utes well be in the top 4 in the PAC10. The competition is about the level of the Utes right now and I do see them winning a PAC10 championship in the next 5 years. And it well be great to see them get the chance to play in a title game because of were they are now.

Utah won a conference championship once every 10 years or so outside of the pac 10. I think you have extend that to 1 in every 15 now or so don't you?

Utah has won the MWC 4 times. That averages out to almost every other year. And if Utah was in the PAC this year, they would absolutely be one of the favorites to win it. Don't wory, they will be favorites next year too.

Funny how you say this knowing full well that Utah has more conference championships than BYU. Would you say this if BYU got into the Big 12? Even though that all time conference championships stat is worthless, I think it's a no brainer that Utah would be far more likely to win the PAC in the next couple years than BYU would be to win the Big 12.

This is funny. Seriously, +2.

So you don't think they'd be a favorite this year? Or is it that you don't think they'll be a favorite next year?

Are you serious? They barely eek'd by a HORRIBLE Pitt team at home. If they're in the top three at the end of the year, I'll be shocked. Let's not talk about next year until next year, shall we?
