Losing Interest in The NFL?

Is anyone losing interest in NFL after the recent events and rule changes?

I think I definitely have. It hasn't been one thing, but a bunch of small things that have just made the league less fun.

I may just be depressed that the Saints 0-2 though.

I have been losing interest for years now.
Partly because I work every other Sunday. Partly because when I got married I told my wife that I will always watch every jazz and byu game but I would cut back on nfl football.

Fantasy football is the only thing keeping me interested really.

I picked the saints to go to the superbowl btw

I haven't watched it regularly for years. Mainly because the Raiders have been horrible for so long and I don't think it's super compelling outside of being able to watch your team. I'll tune to a game if it's close in the 4th quarter or watch a Peyton Manning game here and there, but that's about it. The rule changes don't help. The off field stuff doesn't sway my interest one way or another, but I also don't like to feel like I'm watching MSNBC while the game is going on, so the NFL being way too political now won't help hook me back in.

I like college football way more.

Also, the NFL scheduling games on Thursday was probably the biggest thing that made me lose some interest. Football is Saturday, Sunday, and 1 game Monday night. Thursday **** is just dumb IMO. I know I don't have to watch it, but I do when my team is forced to play Thursday.

I think one thing that makes me like football a little more is the fact that teams are going more uptempto.

My preferred way to watch football is to pause the game, get way behind (build up juice is what I call it), then fast forward through huddles, penalty calls, extra points, some field goals, kick-offs and punts (if I see a nice return I rewind and watch it), and if course commercials.

Agreed.

Plus those Thursday games cause more injuries and the players hate playing Thursday games

Monday Night Football used to be magical. Didn't matter the teams that were playing, I was watching. Oversaturation did a good job of taking that magic away.

It's no baseball or basketball, but I like it considerably more than college football

Mostly, I hate watching a game with retards that talk about how it impacts their current fantasy matchup. Shut the **** up, I don't care.

I have two major gripes:

1. It's just too painfully clear how the league whores itself for additional revenue at the expense of everything else.

2. The way the game is broadcast. They create a pass-happy game and then they don't change the camera angles to effectively show the entire playing surface? **** that. I want to see the way the play develops downfield.

BTW, this is coming from someone who only watches one team. And, at this point, I'm watching with no volume, while I practice guitar. So, yeah, I think I'm losing interest.

Baloney - The NFL is now bigger than their best players, bigger than the commissioner - the league will continue to thrive in spite of them.

And, if nothing else, after a World Cup summer, the NFL is a constant reminder of how much soccer blows.

Baloney?

We are just talking about losing interest on a personal level. No need to get so defensive about the NFL.

I'm pretty numb to the evils of society, so I haven't experienced the appropriate outrage at the nfl for the off the field stuff. I'm actually finding my interest growing. I will watch any and every game. I found myself wishing for Sunday Ticket (gotta get dat ca$h doe) so that I could watch more of the Bucs v Rams game. THE BUCS v RAMS!!!

Are you in fantasy football?

This is my first year not doing fantasy football in forever and that is probably why my interest is at an all time low.

You know me bruh.. I actually have to be careful with fantasy football because one Sunday several years ago....... I found myself cheering against the pack so I could win a fantasy matchup. Disgusted with myself. Ever vigilant since.

Too many pauses for commercials turns me off it IMO. Just get on with it.
