Losing Interest in The NFL?

NFL lost it's appeal for me about the same time MLB did, which was the early 90's. Once Bo Jackson stopped playing, I had no interest in watching. Lockouts and strikes didn't help either. I play FF every year and still don't watch any of the games, unless forced to at the I laws house or something like that. While I do agree that it is light years better than soccer, it still sucks pretty hard. I haven't even watched a Super Bowl in years, and couldn't tell you who won the last few. Meh.

I'm pretty numb to the evils of society, so I haven't experienced the appropriate outrage at the nfl for the off the field stuff. I'm actually finding my interest growing. I will watch any and every game. I found myself wishing for Sunday Ticket (gotta get dat ca$h doe) so that I could watch more of the Bucs v Rams game. THE BUCS v RAMS!!!

If you have DirectTV, just call them and tell them you're dissatisfied with you bill and how much you're paying. Ask them if they have any discounts available for longtime customers. No need to be a dick or anything, but if you're not doing this once a year -- twice a year if you're like me -- then you're crazy. I get a reduced bill (usually substantially less than what I was paying) for 3-12 months, and I've been given the NFL Sunday Ticket for free two years in a row. I've even told them that I don't watch the nfl, and that I really don't want it, but they still give it to me because it's part of their discount package/thingy.

Seriously, call and ask. The worst they can do is say no. (They won't)

I lost interest in the NFL years ago because of all the drama ESPN created around it. There aren't many players left that I recognize because controversy controversy controversy has me tuning it all out.

I agree with a lot that has been said here...

But I just wanted to add, perhaps the game has lost a few iconic players? I mean, without Manning and Brady, what other HOF record setting decade long players are out there? IMO, the NFL is kinda entering a new phase like the late 90s of the NBA. The old superstars are fading... While the new ones are "meh." Kaep, Cutler, RG3, Stafford, Matt Ryan, and Wilson are all "meh" to me. It's just me. They're all either d-bags or just meh.

The lone exception might be Ryan and Luck. But they play in different conferences so it's not like the Manning vs Brady of the early-mid 2000s.

Guys like Marino, Elway, Young, Manning, Brady, etc are difficult to replace.

^^loses interest cause he doesn't find 2 of the 42 players playing a game interesting. plenty of iconic players bruh, it's just not a qb only league anymore. the randy moss's and the brett favre's are now richard sherman's and dez bryant's and jj watt's and p-willis's. plenty of intrigue, plenty of stars.

Yeah, I don't think star power is an issue for people potentially losing interest. Plus, the only one close to being done is Manning. Brady and Brees still have 3-6 years left, Aaron Rodgers still exist.

Also, are steriods making these guys bat **** insane? The whole Dwyer thing is just ****ing ridiculous.

Goodell Press Conference

Q. Have you considered resigning?
A. No.

Q. Why should you get to stay in your role?
A. "Because I acknowledged my mistake."

That's clearly not what I said.

Sometimes, I wonder why anyone even posts on this website anymore. Judging by the lack of long time good posters, I can certainly understand why they left. All too often comments made on here are personal attacks or pathetic attempts to troll. So nice job bra. You're really funny. Hope you got your 15 seconds of fame.

Pretty much all you've ever done here is troll. Those posters left because of posters like you.

I haven't followed the NFL in years tbh. I can't really give a definitive reason why I lost all interest. The camera angles probably had something to do with it though. Like watching an action movie when the director thinks he needs to shake the camera around to make it exciting. I still enjoy college football so it makes sense I guess.

I just traded randall cobb and received arian foster in return tbh

I'm serious. I really don't see you any differently than Dutch. Why post on a forum with posters like that? Like caricatures behind that username and not an actual person. I can't actually believe that everything that, say, CarolinaJazz or PearlWatson posts they actually believe. Just parroting. Same with you, Saltydawg, and others.

I thought the game last night was greeat!

I've lost interest in the NFL as well.

Partly because my team sucks (Giants), and partly because there is just so much other media to absorb. Also, I don't think the redzone channel is helping either. It's an awesome channel in a lot of ways and that's what on on Sunday, but it kinda takes the fun out of watching a single entire game. It's just this mad blitz of football coming at ya. I feel like its gambling junky candy I'm watching.

Even with that all on, I'm usually just doing something else, and then I rewind it, or pay attention to it, if something big happens.

I guess it's, how I watch the NFL that has changed, and it's had an impact on my interest for it.
