Lottery Standings

NOH officially can't catch the Dubs. Hopefully this realization will deflate them and they will give a lackluster effort when playing the Dubs.

Need Philly to beat the Nets. They should be motivated since they're fighting for playoff positioning.
Need the Bucks to beat the Raptors. That win by Detroit over Toronto was big.
Need the Cavs to lose at Memphis and Chicago (who may be resting players). They have a winnable game vs. the Wizards.
And finally, we need the Kings to lose one more game, which shouldn't be too difficult since they're playing the Thunder and Lakers.

I wouldn't worry about Chicago resting players. They are still battling Spurs for best overall record.

Hope it works. We'll see.

MR.JENKINS the last brave worrior, hope he gets good contract.

they still have chance to win one more if Marc J won't shut them down

Big daddy stern was evening things out a bit for us in that game. There was a ridiculously blatant goal tend by monroe right at the end that would have put the rapts up. They took the shoot from six feet away, and Monroe just jumped up and grabbed it right before the rim. No way the refs honestly missed that. You could see that from the nosebleeds.

Gotta give Big Dave S. major props for sending some karma our way.

That was a brutal call, but I usually lean toward officials being inept vs. some conspiracy theory. Either way, nice that it potentially benefited the Jazz.

I'm confused. Is there any scenario where a coin flip could determine the pre-ping pong ball slot? How is it that there is a situation where there is no auto-tiebreaker?

If GS does not win another game, chances are they will be tied with the winner of the NJ/Tor game for 7/8. That is as long as Cle and Sac only win one more (see above post for who they play) and NJ and Tor lose their next games. A win by GS gives them an outright lead most likely at 8.

here's a serious question that i haven't been able to find an answer for -- anybody know when the coin toss will occur this season? in a typical year, they usually do the coin tosses the day after the regular season, but that's because there's usually a board of governors mtg that day when they do them. they've already had the april BOG meeting, so i'm not sure if they'll still be doing them that day, or if we have another day to watch for as far breaking a fairly likely 7/8 tie.

has anybody heard/read?

Two big games tonight: Milwaukee at NJ and Toronto at Philadelphia. Both Phily and Milwaukee are still fighting to be in the playoffs, so they will be playing their butts off. If everything goes to our liking, there will be at the most one team tied with GSW. Go Philwaukee!!

milwaukee has about a 1% chance of making the playoffs, so i don't think there's much motivation there.

also, this is the final game in new jersey before the franchise moves across two rivers. so who knows if there will be a little extra energy in a for-the-gipper sort of way ... or a little extra apathy in a let's-get-out-of-this-swamp sort of way. (the nets, after all, have been worse this season at home than on the road.)

I'm pretty sure they flip a coin right before they divvy up the ping pong balls. If the number of pp balls is odd, the winner of the coin flip gets the extra ball. This happened a couple of years ago with our NY Knicks pick, where the Clippers won a coin flip, got one more ping pong ball in the lotto and then picked 8th, while we went 9th. They then drafted Aminu before we drafted Hayward.

it's not right before the ping pong balls... in a typical season, they do the draft order coin tosses at the board of governors meeting immediately after the season ends. but i'm not sure when they'll do this year's, since the april BOG meeting already took place. haven't been able to find any place that talks about when that is scheduled for this season.

Hopefully, the Dubs just rack up 1 or 2 more wins. Then we won't have to worry about a coin toss as long as NJ and Toronto lose.

Damn, Suckwaukee is down by five to Toronto at the half. Philly is currently taking care of business.

Scratch that. Philly putting their face in their food. What is up with the bottom feeders' rising?
