Lowry anybody?

Richard Jefferson.

Yeah, when they traded for him, he was on the last year of his deal...then he resigned for a lot less than his last deal...then was traded away at the end of the deal.

No thanks on Lowry. Jefferson was an expiring FA when traded for. He did not have years remaining at a 10+ million price tag.

12 million per for three more years.
Asked to change the way he plays.

No thanks.

Top 7 in the league in RPM for his position 2 years in a row. You can measure players a lot of ways... When he is on the court his team is much better than when he's off the court... Also check out trey and Dante's shooting numbers and free throw attempts. Lowry is an upgrade at a reasonable price. I doubt we could get him for Burke and the 12.

If we didn't do it I trust DL... He would have been on Houston when Lowry was around I think. At very least he'd have a ton of info on him.

I don't see why they would trade Lowry tbh. Decent contract and good player.

If they trade anyone it would be Derozan because his style just isn't the best in the modern NBA.

Why in the world would Toronto do this trade?

That was my first reaction, but from what I'm reading they want to blow it up after this year's playoff fiasco. They get a young PG they can try to develop, they get a lottery pick and a future pick, and they get capspace(a lot of it). A lot of neutral fans from RGM seem to think it's a fair value trade both ways. Quite honestly I still doubt they would do it.

Thats kind if where I am. It would be overreaction on torontos part to take that deal. Lowry and Patterson are both individually likely better than what we will get at the 12.

This wouldn't be skipping steps to me. This would be cashing in on our abundance of assets to build a team. If Exum had shown he was more ready I don't think its a good deal but he us a ways away and one offseason won't be enough for him to close the gap on where he is and where we need him to be. Lowry may not be in the long term picture, meaning 5-10 years, but I don't think it would damage Exum to bring in someone that helps us now. He'll get enough court time.

Lowry's best big man has been Luis Scola when he was in Houston. Never had a lot of good PNR options or off-ball scorers to play with.

The problem is not big men.... Toronto just does not run PNR at all. It is iso ball 90% and rest is few horns sets to get open midrange shot for DeRozan or 3 for Ross. They had two of top 10 most effective ( based on TS% ) big men yet they never utilize them. Just look at the series vs Wizards, Wizards had 220 more passes in 4 games than Raptors... that's 55 passes per game more and Lowry is big part of that problem.

Lowry points per shot... 1.19

Trey Burke PPS... .97 (last among qualified point guards)
Dante Exum PPS... .94 (the same as JLIII)

Lowry's defense is much better than Burke's and at least on par with Exum's current defense (Exum has much more potential obviously).

Patterson is an upgrade over Booker. I love Trevor and his leadership and one liners, but Patterson is a better player and fills that stretch big role.

If the cost is the 12th pick in the draft go ahead and look over the this list.... https://www.mynbadraft.com/nba-draft-picks/12th-overall/120509/

In the last 20 years you've had a handful of rotation players, a couple ok starters, and a **** ton of busts. I think we'd be stupid not to do this trade assuming DL understands Lowry's potential personality issues well.

Watching that toronto vs wizards series, I don't think I have ever seen a worse run offense/offensive gameplan. That offense was so ugly. Seemed like they never got good shots.

It was two of the dumbest coaches in the league going at it. Whitman couldn't seem to use his clipboard right, but he did outcoach Casey.

Can't argue with that
