What's new

Luc Mbah a Moute

I had him in my cross-hairs if we had Hayward.

Now? We need more scoring. **** sucks.

I would like him better if we retained Hayward. We need guys that can create more than he can. On the right deal I'd like him.

Jazz need scoring

This is true. Unfortunately, there's no scoring out there on the free agent market. We also need a backup 5 and now that Hayward is gone my whole idea of Bogut is fairly useless, until you realize there aren't any 5s out there and Bogut may just be the best value big man. Yeah our offense will struggle. Barring some unforeseen trade, I don't see a lot of shooting or scoring we'll have that's not already on the roster.

Why aren't we pursuing this guy??? Best defensive rating on the Clips two seasons ago second only to Paul last season (better than Jordan both years). Has developed his three point shot - .391 last season, and over 50 percent overall (.505). https://hoopshabit.com/2017/06/27/los-angeles-clippers-2016-17-report-cards-luc-mbah-moute/ Shouldn't have to adjust anything major to get him, probably MLE.

Why?
Because we all watched the playooff series this year. Maybe you not?

And sign Tony Allen on a 1 + TO at above market. Just be miserable to play against, really dive into cultivating a tough, **** you culture.

Truthfully my thing is to replace some of that three point threat now that Hayward is gone. Without three point shooting, Rubio's game is going to be rendered ineffective as defenders clog the paint. Mbah a Moute besides being .390 from three also just happens to be a top shelf defender, otherwise I might be on the CJ Miles bandwagon, another guy that can fill it up from outside. Sure we have some three ballers already but Hood is extremely streaky, Ingles is not good at creating and takes time to set, Exum not good at creating, JJ a little streaky and Rubio not known for his shooting. Two guys that could help us still available at discount prices most likely - as I've said I'd prefer Mbah a Moute but would settle for Miles. I know a lot of you guys still have reservations about Miles from his time here but kid's grown up and can fill it up in bunches.

I'm on board with this. Semi-old school, 80's football style. Slop that **** up. While we're at it, sign Zaza on the cheap or Bogut for the minimum too.

Zaza is off the board. But renting Bogut in a similar way would be chill.

And you could possibly structure their contracts like Diaw's so they can be used as trade chips early next offseason.

More than Rubio, Gobert REQUIRES space. It is such a big deal, I'm not sure it can be overstated. And yes, this is a big part of why I've checked out on Favors.

I actually like this idea. Become the old Baltimore Ravens of the NBA. No offense, but the most physical, stifling defense in the league. I'd LOVE the original "grit and grind" here in Utah. Let him and Joe Jesus teach the young guys how to work and compete constantly. I'd still probably try to add Ilyasova. . . but I'd love to get Tony Allen for a year.

Yeah, Jazz definitely need some spacing at the 4 now. Pretty desperately.

Not sure how you sign Allen, Bogut, and Ilyasova, but I think the Jazz should zero in on 2/3 of them. Allen fits the positional needs least, but I think would bring the most, culturally. Ilyasova is still a productive player at a position/skill-set of dire need but probably brings the least, culturally. He and Bogut did play together for a number of years, which is interesting.

I'd be happy with just Ilyasova who's also a decent three point shooter(or Mbah a Moute, Miles now off the board). Just one low level signing to feel good about, to say we haven't thrown in the towel for this year just because our star player decided to bolt.

Doesn't another youth oriented rebuild send the wrong message to our vets? Couldn't things go south in a hurry with Rubio who's already had his legacy take a giant hit being thrown to the wolves in Minnesota, and now it's the same **** different faces here? We need something to feel good about in FA or via trade or morale could wane and this team could unravel until we have to explode and start all over.

If we do nothing who is currently our backup small forward? JJ? I love the guy but he couldn't cover my grandmother. Burks? Dude hasn't looked the same since the accident. Bolomboy? Oh Gawd no. Mitchell? Dude is 6'3"!!!
