What's new

Lucas in SLC

I will disagree

burke will start from day one win or lose he is our future
I could see rush but he had an acl tear he won't be starting

Burke, Lucas
burks, rush, McNeal
Hayward, Jefferson
favors, Evans, Williams
kanter, biedrins, Gobert (although I think Gobert should get all the back up min)

I agree.

I listened to JL III on 1280 on my drive home tonight. He impressed me. He understands his role. Talked about making his teammates like family. Wants to bring Trey Burke down to Houston to work out with him. Wants to hook up with other teammates this summer to build group unity.

Wait, I thought the reason we got rid of the vets was so they couldn't be leaders...and now this?!?

I don't thi k you want a pass first pg off the bench. Your bench should be two guys that can score and a big man defender who is efficient ala Landry and a defensive wing who can hit the three. Burks and Lucas fit a role off the bench.

Quote from Lucas:

"I want to show Burke some tricks, like how to get his shot off as a smaller NBA player."

In SL Burke got into the lane at will. His struggles came from getting his shot off. If he can learn that from Lucas this summer, he is a completely different player come November.

Good point. If the second unit is Burks, Lucas, Jefferson, Evans and Biedrins/Gobert (or even Favors sliding over to the 5), you need some scoring punch from the guards. I know, I know...someone is going to say the Jazz don't/won't play all subs at any given point. They will. They did under Sloan and they did under Corbin. I think it's insane; my philosophy is that you should always have at least 2 starters on the floor at any given time. But that's the way the Jazz have rolled and I won't expect anything different until I actually see it for several games in a row.

Lucas mentioned somewhere that he completely understood his role as a mentor and as a backup point guard. So I would say that's something dennis talked to him about. I think Burke will start. There's really no reason not to have him.

So, let's pretend that Rush starts and Burks comes off the bench. Burks can pass, though he isn't a pick and roll guy much. Lucas is a score first guard. Burks runs the offence for the second unit while Lucas scores?

Am I still watching the Jazz?

Old Man Lucas was a high draft pick, a druggie and also a very good tennis player. I think he won the ACC singles title. It seems he played doubles in the US Open.

You want a guy who can come off the bench and not turn over the ball. Everything above that is gravy. Lucas is here because he's a cheap veteran and his TO% is fairly decent.

I like Tinsely but he's looking for a job right now because he would often get careless with the ball while doing his Rucker Park ****.
