What's new

Lyles is the pick at 12

Yep lets pooh pooh him shooting well in work outs because you don't like the pick, if he was a player you wanted people would be tooting that horn until the brass tarnished.

Example last year the kid from AZ (Aaron Gordon) that the Magic picked and him being able to improve his shooting and showing it in workouts.

People were pleased with Exum, Hood, and Gobert also. The Hayward pick was a meltdown.

I remember Hood being mixed feelings (which was shocking to me especially with how he fell) there was just as many posts about his poor defense as there was being excited for him.

I suppose you're right. Exum, however, was please one of the four fall to us, and he did. Same with Hood, and Gobert was a freak of nature trade for, so of course the stadium went bat **** crazy.

Dunno why this franchise seems intent on letting The Book go. I thought he was a valuable emotional engine in addition to his contributions in the box score. Aside from Gobert who else showed emotion out there?

Back to Lyles, just watched my first video of him ever and was very impressed with his bbiq and ability to change speeds to get to his spot down low. I'm a bit concerned about his lack of athleticism, speed, and somewhat with his length. 7'1 wingspans can have a huge difficulty scoring at the 4 in the NBA. However, he has the craftiness and alertness to overcome his physical limitations (still sounds funny to say that about any NBA lotto pic, but this is the circus of world bodies we are talking about).

I like his brains, he's no Kanter.

I agree we should keep Booker, He is a perfect pf off the bench for this team. PF seemed like the position we needed the least. But maybe they are planning a big trade that will involve Book or Lyles when FA begins.

I just can't get behind this pick. I want to , but I cant. I'm trying to like him by watching highlights. I'm liking him less though.

Cons.

He looks slow and unexplosive.
Can't rebound
Can't shoot.
Can't play defense.

Pros

Played for Kentucky ???
Measurements
Age.

That's how lIm ooking at him.

He looks like a huge bust. He has so much improving to do.

Still can't believe we picked him.

Still somewhat of a mystery because the ex-Kentucky forward had to contort his game to fit the role UK needed him to play last season. The Wildcats had a glut of frontcourt talent, so Lyles became a 6-foot-10 small forward in a two-post offense. While he isn't a liability defending the perimeter, his more natural position in the NBA is probably power forward. The skilled, versatile rookie should add to the strength of an already formidable Utah frontcourt. Marc J. Spears' grade: A+.
