Malone as a model for Fesenko

If he modeled himself after Birdman I'd be thrilled.
By modeling after the Birdman (Chris Anderson), do you mean tat yourself up, gel your hair, get suspended for drugs (all off-the court activities, btw)?

Jeff underscores the only modest correlation between off-court activities and on-court performance. BTW, Anderson got more 50% more overall playing time in his first two years than Fesenko did in three.

While it would be great if all players had the work ethic of Karl Malone, "Modeling" isn't the biggest problem. It's court time. Fes should've had more minutes last year, and he should get more on-court minutes this season when defense is extra-important (i.e., when a lead is in place) if Utah wants him to improve. Many C's have gotten more burn than he has, and center is perhaps the most important position for players to get in-game experience.

I don't think it is unreasonable to model your game after anyone, see Kobe and MJ... We know that Fesenko does not have the hand-eye coordination of Kareem to shoot sweet sky hooks. Idiot noted reasonably in my opinion that Fes has some athleticism (Malone) and some bruiser potential (Malone) that would allow him to get a piece of Malone's game, namely the "start on the left block, then bull your way into the lane, elbow the defender, then shoot a jump hook." Fes showed a bit of jump hook in his brief playing moments, so i think this is possible. The good news is that he could be a wonderful 2nd stringer to AJ if he gets that same move down and becomes a poormans AJ. (big if) That way the offense could remain generally the same when 2nd unit comes in or more specifically, as each single person is subbed, there doens't have to be much change to offense. (The Antoine Carr as a poor mans Malone idea.)

Now if he simply adds this one offensive move and practices catching the ball (for DWill or AK dump offs) then his offense is complete enough to be a player.

If there was one player who i would have expectations for to be a good, HUGE defender, it would be Fes. He seems to be quick, agile (for his size, not Hakeem-level, but good.) So he appears to have as much potential as a defender... maybe i'm missing something. (back to the committment issues...)

I don't think Fes will ever replicate any of malones open court athleticsm.

Is that a good enough model for fes?

I remember seeing this pic years ago and I'm sorry but what the **** is he wearing there? Ridiculous.
