Game Thread Mar 07, 2025 05:30PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Toronto Raptors

Kessler and Sexton returning.

Meanwhile the Raptors are sitting down everyone. They've got three NBA players (Barnes, Quickley, Boucher), one rookie (Walter) and a bunch of G league fodder. The poor 6'8" G league pick of the bunch that's gonna have to go against Kessler for 30 minutes is in for a bad experience.

Raptors are now obviously more committed to tanking than they were earlier. They played their last game on Tuesday and in that game they closed the 4th quarter of a close game with their 2nd unit and sat down Barnes, Barret, Quickley and Poeltl. Now their injury report looks like ours.

However I think they are absolutely screwed. Their schedule for the rest of this season is ridiculously easy. 2x Jazz, 3x Wizards, 2x Spurs, 2x Nets, 2x Hornets, 2x Sixers, 2x Blazers, Chicago, Dallas and they have ONLY TWO games remaining against current top 8 teams of either conference (@GSW and vsDET).

I mean they may win 8 more games while trying to throw all of them.

I love it. Plus we have a big lead on them. They have no chance to catch us.

We did so so so good on our huge home stand. I think it was the longest stretch of home games in franchise history or something and we won only 1 game iirc.

Awesome

I'm guessing Toronto is most concerned about not getting passed by BKN and PHI. I'm guessing they don't think they can pass us.

If all 3 of those teams go super hard in the tank race then here is how it effects our race:

- UTA has 3 games left against TOR,BKN,PHI
- CHA has 2 games left against TOR, BKN, PHI
- WAS has 6 games left against TOR, BKN, PHI
- NOP has 2 games left against TOR, BKN, PHI

So not great, but not too bad for us if all 3 teams get super tanky.

Conversely, if they lose all those games they could end up with as bad as a bottom-4 record due to the power of BOGO. If they do, that is very, very good for us (especially if we lose tonight) as that would vault Charlotte and Washington up the standings.

Speaking of the power of BOGO, the Jazz are the 90’s Bulls of tank battles which has been powerful for getting them where they are. We need Brice and Cody to keep being MJ and Pippen and we might land this plane.

I think the dilemma with Flip is that he can’t really be a C on defense, but his shooting/passing aren’t as valuable as the 4. It makes him a nice 3rd big to have, but probably won’t be a starter…..which is still great pick at 32.

Even in jest, wishing illness on players is pretty low.
If its in jest then it means nothing. Ever seen a comedy show before? Watched a fictional movie or tv show? read a fictional book? If its in jest then it isn't real. Its fiction. Its fake. Its ok. You will be ok and the players will be ok.

Social media and populism really has transformed people into believing that acting like a complete ******* is something to be admired and "owning" someone is the best thing you can do.

Flagg going to solve that dilemma. (Though he would still not be a starter because of Walker/Lauri)

@homeytennis is Harkless injured? I noticed he's listed as "Out" for the Jazz and isnt playing with the Stars. I'm sad we havent gotten any Harkless lately.
