Ya i mentioned that i thought it was one of goberts worst games but its not like plumlee went off offensively. Maybe the poster should have said gobert should have boxed out better? Of course gober had 19 rebounds and 17 of them were defensive rebounds so thats not too bad imo.

The article that was posted in another thread nailed the Gobert thing completely, even though it was about the Boston game, it was still the same thing they did in this game. They exploited our lack of perimeter and wing defenders, and therefore their wings went nuts on us. 3 of them scored 20+. That is because they took advantage of our smaller size backcourt guys to score over them from 3 and in the mid-range, hell and even their smallest guy made our guys look like they had never played defense in their lives, and al this was enough that it pulled Gobert away from the basket more and more to try to fill in the horrible defensive gap, which then opened up dunks and layups since we have NO ONE to support Gobert when he is stretched outside of his normal space. We are so exposed this way. We are very easy to beat when teams understand this.

There is no question that Donovan holds the key to this team’s ultimate success. The problem is that he is not (yet) good enough.

Here’s the real question: Are the mistakes he is making now necessary growing pains on his way to superstardom or is he just learning bad habits?

I think Donovan and Tatum have some interesting parallels as they were both drafted into playoff-level teams and have been tasked with/allowed to “learn on the job”. It has looked good at times and really bad at other times. Time will tell how it turns out in the end for each of them.
it ain't about Donovan. It's about who do we have OTHER THAN Donovan. As good of an offensive player as he is, we won't go far with just him creating the offense all by himself. He would've ran out of gas towards the end of the 4th quarter like we've seen time and time again. Even KD, aka the best one on one player in the world, needs someone like Steph or Kyrie to take the ball from him so he could save his gas for the crucial possessions. Tatum has Jaylen Brown who averages 23 a game and could generate some offense by himself. Who else on this jazz team could we give the ball to and ask him "go get me a bucket" when Donovan ran out of gas?

Last season we had alot of good shooters. Joe Mike Bojan and even Niang. Atm u got only Mike who is thret from 3 point line and even him is in bad slump Last month or so.No1 is afraid of Royce or Eric or Forest and than we end with Don rush in traffic. This team need shooters around Don and Rudy couse we build like that.Ofc u can't be top deff team like that but u can outscored others. And that's how we was first Last regular season.

It was weird… I also wonder how he got credited with just one turnover cuz a few of those passes not being caught were on him.

There was one particular stretch where plumpee got like 2 offensive boards that were completely careless from Rudy. Didn’t need to box just turn his body a little and plumpee wouldn’t have a straight line right to a board.

They are shooters who need to be open... When there's always a defender attached to them they can't even get their shots off. The whole premise of a five out lineup is to take away the space that otherwise would've been there with a simple pick n roll or screen action. But in the case of a small/five out lineup, they just switch and rotate to the next defender to take away that space. So either shoot in the defenders face or beat their defender with dribble to create some space for the shot themselves. But only Donovan is capable of doing that consistently on the team. Especially in a starting lineup of Rudy/Conley/Bogey/Royce, none of these guys could score on a regular basis without being assisted.

Lol Rudy may have blundered some easy rebounds but this team has for 3+ years have stood around and watched rebounds while Rudy did all he work. Just like help defense. How often do these guys ever help Rudy(help the helper) when Rudy came to help?

At least he took fair share of the blame afterwards. A little more leadership would do this team wonders.

Our best help defender is the 6’4 Royce. Like even if he comes to help what good would that do? The 6'8 Tatum or 6'9 Durant couldn't even see him as they shoot. Rudy's man is at lease 6'10 in size, even if our guys go on to help cover Rudy's man it wouldn't make a difference. It's a personnel thing. Like Rudy Gay's been sucking for quite a while now, but Quin has to play him simply because he's tall enough to fill that help defender role

Iso Royce?
No… you simply have Royce set the screen… same **** nba teams do to us. Get them in a switch or rotation… it should be really easy.
