Is when teams can begin trading their new free agents. This is when the trade market will go APE! I believe the trade deadline is March 15th. So the first two weeks of March are going to be crazy. I FULLY expect KOC to make a few moves here. No way we continue to play Raja, Howard and Big Al at the expense of our young's. It's pretty obvious we are not a contender at this point. The only players I wouldn't trade are...

Burks
Kanter
Favors
Gordon
and of course Earl Watson(I'm going to have his babies!!)

Thoughts? Any REALISTIC trade ideas??

I would agree. I also suspect that any unrealistic playoff hopes will be smothered by then. It's imperative that KOC is not tempted to keep this team together as presently constituted in order to "make a run" in the playoffs.

I cringe at the idea of this team sacrificing the youngins at the altar, just to try and squeak into the 8th seed.

For now, I'm going to keep the faith that KOC will be able to pull something off to set us up with assets out the wazoo going into next season.

I would like Stephen Curry.....but isn't very realistic....

People seem to enjoy the prospect of trades, and I agree that the Jazz engaging in one or more trades is possible, but the team can be substantially improved without any trade.

Corbin has just gotta start analyzing combinations & matchups better, and playing the individuals and lineups that are most effective on a given night. Chances are that this analysis would imply the following:
1. Less of Raja and Devin
2. More mixing of one of the young bigs with Millsap or Jefferson
3. More use of Burks, both for development as well as for scoring, as long as his D is passable
4. More use of Tinsley, both for preparation purposes as well as for running the offense
5. Increasing use of Elder Hayward at the 2

Could not agree more. Unfortunately, Ty seems to be going the opposite direction, playing the vets even more. Raja and Howard are getting consistent minutes while Burks gets consistent DNP-CD. And I noticed that Kanter and Favors played the exact same 13:47 the other night. Why does he insist on playing them together and only together?

On the bright side, I heard Nissalke the other day saying that people are talking about that, why Ty doesn't mix the young and vet bigs more. So other people in the know see the same thing. But I am very worried that Ty is showing the exact wrong tendency, relying the vets more and more who have brought at best mediocrity.

Ty is in a bad spot. Playing the young guys IS better for the Jazz future, but maybe not for Ty's job future. While people here can say it is cool for him to play youth, all the empty seats when the team isnt winning at all will have the FO on his case also. He is screwed, lol....But yeah, play the young guys I say too, my job is safe :D

2 trades that I think would change this franchise

1st - trade cj miles and the nj 2nd to nj for Anthony morrow

Jazz get another 3 pt shooter. Nj gets their cap space next summer and cj who is friends with Williams they might re-sign him.

2nd trade al Jefferson and devin Harris for Dj Augustin, maggette and diop (salary filler) plus switch our 2 first next year with theirs.

Risky trade for both teams maggette and diop both have 2 years as do al and Harris. So not a big deal money wise. Jazz get a decent pg that is putting up decent numbers. Char get the big they have always craved.

With the draft pick the jazz could get 1 more top 3 pick to bring in 1 more good player. For the sake of the argument lets say it is #3. Jazz draft mkg

Augustin, Watson, tinsley
Hayward, burks, bell (no one would take him)
Maggette, morrow, mkg
Millsap, Evans
Kanter, favors, fa center

A realistic trade in my eyes is a trade the TRADING PARTNER would make with us to improve their team, unless they are looking for a salary dump. It's rarley going to be an ideal trade for the Jazz, although it should benefit us more than hurt us. Almost always gotta give up assets to get assets of value in return. Unless you're the Lakers...
Coach Ty, like any self-respecting coach should, wants to win every game. I tend to think the Jazz brass ARE afraid of losing fans if they aren't being competitive. Unfortunately, young guys w/o much NBA experience tend to drift a bit as they get fatigued. Witness Jeremy Lin on the Knicks last nite; he was gassed in the 2nd half and reverted to excessive turnovers. Part of a coach's job is to KNOW how long he can play a guy before he becomes ineffective and get him off the court before that happens.
Getting Augustin would be great, but I think Diaw would be a better guy to get than Diop, who is next to nobody production-wise...

I know that Portland Wanted Harris last year but got Felton during the off season. Felton has been terrible so I think a swap of Harris for Felton might help both teams. Felton might be alittle more Jazz style then Harris. They both have potential, 1 more year on there deal, and both could use a change.

I'd also like to see Bell trade for Bledsoe. I'd keep Miles so we have a little more money to throw at Wilson Chandler next year. Try and move Harris/Miles for Augustine/Diaw to open up a little more cap space?( Bobcats might take it, because they need scoring and I cant think of a better 2 players on the Jazz who love to shot the ball :) )

But I do agree March will be a fun time for us NBA fans. Will Howard be traded? Will Utah make any trades? WIll Utah win on the road?

This times infinity.

Felton and Chandler scare me. They do have upside but at what cost? Every time I saw Chandler I saw a chucker that was looking out for himself. The Jazz already have a few of those players on the team and they are despised by the fan base, or at least they should be.

Right now Felton has more value the Harris we would have to sweeten the pot to make it happen. I also don't see a trade happening with a division opponent.

I like the bell for Bledsoe but doubt that Bledsoe will help us much he is not an instigator of the offense. Dial is an option I just chose 2 players with similar contracts. The 2 yr ones are the ones Charlotte will want to get rid of. Not to mention the might also be giving up the #1 over all pick. The jazz would be giving up 2 lottery pick and a 20/10 big man for an slightly above average pg and a top 3 pick.

Harris/miles trade has merit though I would do that but I would guess Charlotte would try to keep diaw and move diop.

Less Raja? Are you srs?

Raja is putting together a nice season. He has surpassed my expectations of him after having watched him struggle last year. We need to keep playing him - if no other reason than because my wife likes the way he looks and is willing to watch the games with me so long as he get playing time.
