What's new

Marvin Williams Back?

we have to know if Kanter and Favors works this year so that we can either move on or know the direction we are headed.

Yeah, I don't think so. Kanter is one year away from his next contract. I'd be willing to bet the FO limits his minutes again to try and avoid a situation of having to decide whether or not to match a big contract. They'll try and sign him on the cheap, and then they'll increase his playing time. After that, if they decide to go another direction, the contract will be tradable.

Sign him if he is not too expensive. Let all other veterans walk except Marvin.

Lol. You are letting your Corbin hate make you irrational. The Jazz need a couple vets. I say sign 3-4 and have 2-3 of those as end of bench guys and 1-2 as rotation guys. Our young guys need a little guidance on the floor and in the locker room. Vets can be a great asset to up and coming players. Don't let Corbin's bad use of then ruin you to the good they can do.

Anyone that doesn't risks outing themselves as a complete ****ing hack.

For the record, I wanted Marvin traded because he made the team better last year and was set to be a free agent. I'm ready for the Jazz to be good.

Macho guys alway want team being good. Hay my friend why u not watch bad Euro team and hope they will be much better even compete against WNBA? This is how very stupid u are with wanting Jazz being good today.

He's a great locker room presence. If nothing else, he can mentor the young guys on being a class act in the NBA, who works hard on both ends of the floor, even if he's not one of the most talented guys out there. And having all those up & comers learn from a vet who actually loves it here and wants to be here can't hurt either.

I agree with everything you said. My point is I'm OK with resigning Marvin only. No RJ or Brandon Rush please.

Plus it's not like Williams is ancient. He just turned 28 a few weeks ago. He's a useful player to have.

Am I the only one who expected to see Kanter get pushed for minutes by Gobert?
Expected? Past tense? As in last year?

I didnt expect gobert to push anyone for minutes as a rookie picked at the end of the first round...... verses a 3rd overall pick with 2 years experience in the nba.

This coming season maybe though.

I can agree with this. I would love to give Rush another chance but his mental status is what makes me think twice.

With Battier retiring, assuming that the Big 3 return to Miami, Marvin could be perfect in that Battier role. Solid defense and the occasional 3-pointer. Enjoy South Beach Marv!

David Locke: Marvin Williams meeting with Heat. Problem for Jazz is with Marv being courted by Spurs and Heat, Jazz have to pay more than contenders Twitter @Lockedonsports

Very real possibility.

The Jazz actually need an athletic defensive-minded combo-forward to back up both the 3 and 4. I wouldn't say that Marvin Williams is the long-term solution, or that he's all that difficult to replace. It would be worth seeing if Jeremy Evans is finally going to pan out. If not, there are other FAs we could look at.

Marvin would be nice, but the Jazz have bigger salary concerns in 3-4 years.
