What's new

Matt Thomas - Matty Ice

Tony Jones talked about this a bit on his pod. Mentioned this is really about next year... I think we are setting up contingencies for when we make some budget cuts next year and he's a guy they like.
I agree, from what I’ve seen and heard, he’s ahead of our GLeague prospects.

Jazz are going to need minimum-salary guys who can play rotation minutes. This guy might fit.

I wouldn't mind throwing him out there and running a couple plays for him in the next few games, just to see what we have.

Looking at his highlights, he is absolutely a cross between Reddick and Korver. This dude needs to get up to speed and on the floor with our 2nd unit ASAP.

He's basically another Clarkson for us but with a much better shooting touch.

So his numbers:

While in college he hit 40.1% from three, on 254/634. His junior and senior year, though, he hit 43.2% and 44.5%, respectively. 90.2% and 89.1% from the line as a junior and senior, as well.

In his two years in Europe he hit 47.2% on a total of 398 attempts. Also 91.3% from the line in that time.

45.7% so far in the league on 140 attempts.

Didn't matter, but was pretty bad tonight in garbage time.

At least 3 turnovers, including the classic Giricek travel.

Just wanna point out he regressed this year substantially. At least statistically speaking.

New team 1st game jitters. Not knowing what to do within the offense and clearly pressing to make a play.

He'll be fine and we'll be singing his praises soon enough.

He could be our Mike Penberthy.
A few years ago when I still lived in L.A. I bought sports cards from this guy who had a nice collection. He was also a Penberthy fan because Mike was nice to the guy's son - I don't remember if they met him after a game or at some fan event; I think the guy was religious as well as Penberthy is (I think he signed with a Bible verse included after his signature).
