Max Out Matthews?

y'all are pipe dreaming (and by that I mean, smoking some strong *** hasheesh) if you think we have any shot at Butler or Leonard.

Only in the Hacl school of Armchair GMing or NBA 2K can you believe in that stuff.

We are gonna get one. You better believe it.

Hey remember when you said I was an idiot for saying it was a must we trade Kanter?

Well, looks like the GM agreed with me.

You suck at this.

dude, I was all aboard the Trade Kanter Train before your weak *** was ever born. Bitch.

Do the Spurs max Leonard? Butler is for sure getting maxed,, but the Spurs seem to be pretty smart about throwing money around.

Y'all can laugh all you want. It could happen.

Spurs don't want to max Leonard out. We could possibly do a sign and trade with them and offer them some picks for their rebuild. Dennis Lindsey has ties there too. He might make something happen.

Why? He provides exactly what the Jazz need. Perimeter D and outside shooting that spaces the floor. If the cap does go up it won't be a max beyond this one year. Personally I think 12-14 will land him.

But what would you be willing to pay him and if not him then who, how much and why is that person a better choice than Matthews?

For the record I think Matthews is only 1 of 3-4 viable options for the Jazz. With Utah being Utah I expect overpays within reason to land the free agents that the FO wants.
I think they should push hard for Jimmy Butler. I'd much rather have him than Mathews. Mathews at the max, even the current max is overpaying. He's not the player Hayward is and he is already at his ceiling. I think Jimmy Butler could be had by the Jazz. Him I'd be fine offering the max. He's fits better than Mathews with his superior playmaking skill and superior all around defensive game. He's the better player and he has some ties to the area. I'd be upset if the Jazz maxed out Mathews but would be just fine with Butler.

He is right in that you are not going to rebuild with KL as the focal point. The Spurs are nearly done and need to go through a rebuild. Would not make sense to lock up KL at max through a rebuild.

Dude. The Bulls are absolutely matching Butler. Besides if not every other team with room would throw Max at him.

You are missing the point that 14/15 million is going to be the equivalent of 10/11 in 2017.
It's gonna take a while, but somehow people are going to wrap their heads around this.

We should just ask if you would offer them 10-11 if nobody else could offer more.

The only way it could happen is if SA completely tears it down... and then they ask for a crap ton of picks and go into full tank mode. I don't think they do that. Duncan will likely come back on a cheap contract and Manu may retire (he looks like crap when I've watched him). The only reason they haven't already maxed him is they are trying to preserve space to sign a big free agent and his cap hold is so low. They already have a wink and a nod agreement on this... the guy was the effing MVP of the finals. He's getting maxed bro.

What ties does Butler have to the area?

I understand that. You try anyway. If not fall back to Mathews or other options not the other way around. And you should not throw max money at Mathews. I think there are better fits than Mathews and he is only brought up here because he played here.

I'm not saying it's likely that we land one, just that there is possibility, so Dennis Lindsey shouldn't just assume and not even try.

Spurs already had a fall out in negotiations. They already tried to not offer the max.
