What's new

Mayweather VS. McGregor

Ordering the fight. Having a bunch of friends come over and make a night of it. Don't care for either fighter but if I had to choose I hope that McGregor pulls off the massive upset.

I'm not sure what to make of this circus. I guess it's good television. Have there been other fights with MMA guys vs. real boxers? My guess is that McGreggor is going to come out and try to take Mayweather's head off. There's no way he can win in a traditional boxing match. His punches just aren't quick and technical enough.

Ditto ready for the show

Muhammad Ali fought a Japanese wrestler who proceeded to lay on the ground and kick the **** out of Ali legs for like 5 rounds. Ali legs got ****ed up and he was never the same after.

That was a much better fight than I expected. It took a non-boxer to make Floyd entertaining.

Yeah cuz Floyd had no fear of being beat.

Conor danced around in some weird stances for the first few rounds, landed some decent punches, but most were weak jabs that didn't even phase Floyd.

Took Floyd about 3 rounds to figure him out then by round 6 Connor was clearly gassed.

It just felt artificial in the end. Idk, I kind of expected more, but that was probably silly of me.

Floyd could have dominated from the start, but he respected Conor and felt him out the first few rounds. With that said, Conor landed way more punches than Pacquaio and almost as many as Canelo. Those are real boxers and not MMA fighters with a karate base. He did way better than I thought. I envisioned him throwing punches at air most of the night, which was still kinda true, but I did not expect him to a win round or have any close rounds.

Regardless of how competitive it actually was, every Mayweather fight is boring. This one was not. He was actually moving forward which is foreign territory for him. Obviously he felt confident moving forward against a guy who was gassed/not even a boxer, but I was expecting him to do his usual thing and avoid any damage or risk.

No. Floyd played him like a fiddle. He has 0 boxing footage of him. He studied him for 3 rounds and let Connor tire himself out. Then he dominated him in rare aggressive form because it was really that easy.

It never felt like Mayweather even tried.

^^^You must have never seen Floyd Mayweather fight before. Real boxers, all time great boxers, are not competitive with Floyd Mayweather. Conor landed more than some of those guys. That's impressive.

If you expected a more competitive fight, I don't know what to tell you.

PAC was more competitive. Floyd didn't even try this fight. Those were free punches. Look past the hype. Floyd was sleepwalking way to try and make the fight interesting.

And you expected Conor McGregor to be more competitive than Pac? He did land many more punches than Pac, but that's besides the point. If you went into this fight expecting it to be a real, competitive boxing match, you were mistaken. I don't know how you can watch the last 10 years of Floyd's career and say that this was the most boring main event you've ever seen.

Floyd toys with everyone. He's one of the best, if the not the best, in his sport. Conor McGregor is not a boxer and his striking style is not even boxing based. If you didn't like the fight because it wasn't competitive enough well...like I said before. I don't have much to tell you.

Literally didn't even try in the first 3 rounds.

Again, you must have never seen Mayweather fight before if you think that is new. He does that in every fight. That strategy is not unique to the McGregor fight. The only thing that was unique to this fight was that Floyd actually came forward in the later rounds. That is not something he does. Waiting out his opponent is something he does every single fight.
