Melo to Lakers?

Just got a text from Espn saying that the Lakers our discussing with the Nuggets about Melo to the Lakers for Andrew Bynum. If they get Melo for Bynum the Nba is so rigged. It K. Brown for Gasol all over again!!

Just thnking about it though. It would be like AI in Denver. NOt enough shots to keep everyone happy. But I still don't want it to happen!

Yeah I thought about that. I just would hate to see Lakers get him. Becasue they would have a Replacement for Kobe once he retired. Kobe is starting to show his age alittle and the Lakers with Melo and Gasol our still a contending team. But no Kobe with a Bynum and Gasol they dont really ahve any youth to feed there bigs the ball. So I hope NO trade with LA.

I don't know about rigged... You have to look at what Denver can get. Bynum is inticing to teams because he has huge upside if he stays healthy, and gives the team a 2nd year option on a short contract. If he works out then you've got something in return. If he busts then you cut ties and aren't strapped down by a terrible contract.

yeah thats not a bad way to look at it Franklin. I just think the deal they had in place with the Nets was a better deal. After all Nene is one of there top players. But what do you think our the chances taht Melo gets traded anyways? Im saying like 5 percent. But I really want them to take that rumored NY/Minny deal and only get back Chandler, Brewer and Pick. Aka here comes the Lottery :)

It was but NJ wouldn't do it until Melo agreed to extend.

Well if this happened I think I would pretty much be done with the NBA. I cannot believe people think Bynum is worth Carmelo. Bynum may be 23 years old but he has the knees of a 50 year old man. IF he stays healthy.. when has he been healthy. The biggest problem I have with it is the fact that star players can just ask to be traded to big market teams. It makes all small market teams simply farm teams for the bigger markets so it makes the league a joke. I'd rather watch the Harlem Globetrotters at least they are open about it being rigged.

Dwight Howard is already telling his team that if they don't win the championship then he wants to go to LA. So the players already know what the fans know that being in a large market is an advantage to getting the great players. The thought of it makes me ill.

It's not about if Bynum's worth Carmelo. It's about leverage. And Carmello has it all. He's going to NY or nowhere. At least that's what seemed to be true, probably because no one, Carmello included, gave LA a thought. But now that the Lakers want to shake things up and have a valuable piece like Bynum, the Nuggets may need to jump on it, as it'll probably be the best chip they get. Or they can wait for something of equal value as you see it and get absolutely nothing as the trade deadline comes and goes because, well, the Nuggets aren't going to get something of equal value since they're pretty much handcuffed.

P.S.--How awesome would it be if it was for Kobe and he had to go play in Denver? Just sayin'.

Okay so what we'd have is
2 of the best 3 players on the heat and 3 of the best 15
2 of the best 5 players on the Lakers and 3 of the best 10

Way to go NBA

With Jackson retiring sometime soon, this has huge potential for blowback and to actually HELP the Jazz. Are Kobe and Melo the kinds of guys to be sharing the ball and keeping their heads on straight, with or without Jackson? Pau needs possessions, too.

If through all of this, the Jazz are able to acquire Nene, I'm for it.

I thought the same thing, just like Melo and AI. It just wouldn't work and I heard it could be Odom/Bynum4Melo. Dang if thats the trade I would jump up for JOY.

You forgot about Artest as well. That would be a fun thing to watch the Fakers self-destruct.

As Jazz fans, we can only hope so.

Watching Melo and his pathetic defense arguing with Kobe for the ball and ruining Gasol's rhythm would be sweet. Get Bynum outta there! Dealing with Gasol down low is a lot more favorable to most teams than dealing with Bynum and Gasol.

I think getting Melo would definitely help them this year. That would suck for the rest of the NBA. As long as Phil J is coaching you can bet that he would try the hardest to make it work.
I think where it would start to hurt them and help others a little bit is after Phil Jackson retires. If Kobe's game starts dropping then I dont think Melo and Gasol are going to exactly dominate. They are good players but while Gasol is getting older too, Melo is not nearly the closer or the smart player that KObe is. And with an inferior coach and without Bynum to protect the basket they could be a defensive liability as well. They might still be pretty good but they wont be an automatic title contender.

I think it'd be better if the NBA only had 6 teams, like when the league started. We could just put all the good players on the biggest teams. Miami is off to a good start, Boston's been doing it for a while, and this trade could help too. We could put Dwight Howard in Chicago, Deron in Dallas, and Chris Paul in New York, and then we'll be set. That would make the league a lot more popular.

I have been saying for weeks this would happen. Also don't be suprised if you see DWill / Howard follw Melo to LA.
