Memo tweeted recently that it was good to be back in Salt Lake City, so it's a possibility. On the other hand, Locke also talked about Brian Cook being a possible training camp invite, even though he signed a training camp contract with the Wizards 8 days ago.

If that is the case - is it a possible indication of a big man trade? Bring Memo off the bench to stretch the post, rotate between the remaining bigs?

Minnesota wanted him but he would not take vet min. I think a few other teams are in the same boat. I doubt he would give Utah a home town discount and sign for the min here. He was not pleased with the trade. Plus I think it would take minutes away from Kanter which is not worth his contributions.

The Jazz wouldn't lose much by inviting Memo to camp. My guess is that they'd only add him on later if they traded one of the big men away during the season.

Yes!

Aged veteran, 3pt specialist, injured. Just like Roger.

Not a jerk, fans like him, we want him here. Unlike Roger.

I agree with all this, but in his prime he couldn't play defense. Now he's over the hill, and coming off the Injury. The question is how much worse is his defense now.

He needs to settle in to turkey and stop worrying about getting into the NBA. He already has a championship ring and he wouldn't have any more of an impact on winning and losing than he already did for the Pistons. Sure, he could make more money here, but he already made over 60 million dollars, how much more does he need?

As to whether or not the Jazz should pick him up, the Jazz aren't at the point right now where thy need one final piece, they are developing their talent, so I say no. Besides, I don't want Kanter to pick up Memo's game, it isn't his strength.

i'd rather have memo as the 4th big in a rotation of favors-sap-kanter-memo than have al as the 1st big in a rotation of al-favors-sap-kanter. but that's just me.

either way, it's not happening.

Some people really nitpick and over-analyze the 15th guy on the roster. That spot's reserved for a positive influence on chemistry and someone everyone else likes. Period. End of story. If you're picking up a 15th man to fill some on-the-court need then that's a strong indication that your 15th man is the least of your many, many problems.

Memo would be great for this team. If you think Kanter and Favors will be out of foul trouble most of the time, you are crazy. Memo is perfect for 5 or so minutes a game as a stretch, and then if needed, he can play a little more on nights Kanter decides to pull a Hoffa impersonation.

There IS NO 15th man on the Jazz roster. KOC likes to keep the spot open for trades or to cover any injuries that come along. With Watson still hurt, I'd count on the Jazz PERHAPS signing a PG to a non-guranteed deal. That could be someone who gets invited to camp, or it might be a player another team cuts after pre-season.

He wouldn't be able to guard Collins at this point. Somethings are better left in the past.

Could Memo ever guard anyone? Who knows? That is the point of training camp, to find out. Don't tell me we are better served just inviting D-League scrubs.
