Actually, this has already happened in 1923 revolution of Turkey. But there have always been religious society roots in the country that kept swearing revenge on the republic. I'm sorry to say this but the United States government kept supporting one of these groups strongly for the last 30 years as a matter of strategic interest. But it looks like they think Erdoğan's time is up. I also want to say that no Orange revolution or Arabian Spring will happen in this country. We already had our spring fighting our liberty war and finding the republic then experiencing a modernizing revolution. This is the time of waking up for the ones that have been pushed down under the water breatheless for the last 33 years. (1980 coup)

To be honest I do get the feeling that the mainstream, modern, educated Muslims, i.e., those that are protesting in Turkey, are waking up to the fact that this is happening to them and they're actually the "pawn" in this equation.

So to answer your question? I'm optimistic.

This protest in Turkey isn't new. This has been ongoing for a very long-time-- as has been said earlier, Turkey already had its "spring". This revolt is only happening because things are slowly moving back to the right, and the public is resisting.

As for your optimism, I am less optimistic. Turkey doesn't worry me-- they are already on the right track. Let's do something about Saudi Arabia.
 
Here is a photo of two TV channels programs in simultaneous air time. I put this here to show you about the censorship in Turkish media. Only 2 minor TV channels (one of them wasn't even available for most of the TV's in the country but they've watched via internet) had the balls to show the protests from the start.

you can not count as a european country. %50 of the public is stupid guys, i can not understand how can a person give a vote to PM Erdoğan's party. He sells everything and after sticking his affiches that told they finish our debt to IMF.

They use Islam for gettin' votes. I am hundred percent sure that PM Erdoğan isn't a muslim. Our Qur'an advice us to not kill. It's forbidden to kill An ant, cut down a tree, kill a person. But some idiot jihadists and PM Erdoğan don't accept these. He is a stupid idiot and i hope God(Allah) gives his punishment.
 
Good on Memo, and I hope the Turkish people can act toward a positive resolution here. It's a crazy world we're living in.

Is this true? I've heard that in the beginning of the Koran the teachings are very peaceful and non-violence, then as we get closer to the end, there is a lot more violence and that's what people believe to be true? Which part of the Koran do you focus on when you're living daily life? What part does the government or people in power focus on?

I don't know how i can explain but, they use our religion for deceive our uneducated people. They reveal a problem called " kurdish problem". Actually it's terrorism but know, PM Erdoğan always says, We don't love you because of your ethnic, we love you because of whom create us. This is the easiest way to explain what a stupid PM Erdoğan is. Our country is secular when it comes to laws, but stupid erdoğan and his jihadist friends refuse it, they act like Atatürk didn't exist.

Qur'an is a book that is changed by everybody, everybody puts their culture and interpreting verses as they want. I hate to share same religion with these sheeps.

But the real problem in Turkey is, people support their parties like they support their favourite team, and they accept everything. One thing about Islam is it's forbidden to spend lot, but when you look at all of kingdoms of islamic republics, it's vice versa. Allah will give their punishments.

How long do you think it will be for Turkish people to realized what Erdogan is doing and finally vote him out? When will the opposition get a majority? 2 years? 5 years? 10 years?
