Can you find Memo?

He is joining protesters against the Turkey govm'nt.
I don't understand it all, its over a historic park. But it has become serious enough that the Turkish Gov. shut down Twitter.

I think that it is brave to protest your government when the whole world knows who you are.

I saw that the army or police had fought with protesters, the Gov't had shut off twitter. But I don't understand why so much is happening because of a park. Although it sounds like the park is only the catalyst

Could you explain?

From what I've been reading, there's been a very large conflict between the secular Turks and the current, fairly heavily conservative Islamist governing body.

It's almost the same scenerio before the Iran Revolution. Turkiye is being changed bits by bits. The start might be about a couple of trees which would chopped down, but the excessive use of force by the police, and the fachist dictation of the government is the reason protests have been growing and spreading all cities. Changing the lifestyle towards more conservative direction makes many of Turkish people worry about their future. This "Gezi Parkı" event lit a fire.

I thought Turkey is a democracy? If his party got the most votes in the elections, why do some people not accept it?

Why are people destroying the whole city? The majority of the folk wants this guy. The minority has to accept losing: that's how a democracy works.

I think the same.

Anyway, we have to accept democratic decisions even if we don't like it until it's a law against human rights.

Yes as long as the people can make up their own minds/decision without blindly following culture/religious beliefs/the way things are done, etc. For there to be true democracy there has to be complete information. Otherwise if I'm Muslim, should I always vote for the Muslim party without questioning its policies whatsoever?
