Merry Christmas Jazzfanz

Nothing in the "Best of" category, but my kids think Santa is getting nicer. They consider their expectations bested by a sewing kit, some board games, scooters, toy farm and horse sets, a barbie, and some other similarly oridinary stuff, with plenty of chocolates. I got a B&D cordless tool kit, and Mom got a comparable sewing set plus me home for Christmas. . . . .

I'm sure the big kid toys out there will win the rep prizes, but our kids are very happily busy and making the rounds playing with everything.

I'm eating chocolate. Mom is cooking something that smells really good.

I gave my wife an iTunes gift card and a box of condoms. Needless to say, I got lucky this morning.

God bless us, everyone!

I did not receive any presents because my family won't be here for a few more days, but I did have a nice brunch with my 2 sets of aunts and uncles. Looking forward to celebrating Christmas on New Year's Eve, though.

Merry Christmas to you too Rev.

What I received:
$120 cash
$20 Target gift card
Super soft blanket
Two small Nutcrackers
Scrabble Slam!
Lots of candy

What I gave:
In my family we rotate names amongst siblings for gifts.
To my younger brother and his wife: Pyrex glass cookware, White chocolate truffles, and some nuts. Also a game and toy for their 3 kids.

Not a lot of money to give other people gifts this year. So just made sure to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Katie, there is a joke located in this list, but I am not going to touch it. Im glad to hear you've had a great Xmas! Take care and be safe.

Thanks, you too.

FYI I have taken to collecting Nutcrackers. It started a few years ago, when I started attending Ballet West's The Nutcracker annually. It is my 2nd favorite ballet. I buy the official Ballet West Nutcracker statue every year since I started attending 4 years ago. I bought two myself this year, so now have 7 total.

We got season passes to Lagoon (the local amusement park) for the family. Also got the kids How to Train Your Dragon and Toy Story 3. Also got my older daughter a bunch of arts and crafts stuff that she loves and my son a bunch toy tools. My youngest is too young for any of it.

Gave my brother-in law a Giovine wrist watch:

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope it was a good one for you and your family. And now, Happy Boxing Day :D

and this will sound cheesy, but the best Christmas gift I received was having my family together. And other than cash, the best gift I gave to folks was the beef brisket I cooked, it was SOOOO good - I'd never served it at Christmas and hadn't made one in a few years, but I think I've found a new family Christmas tradition.

Merry Christmas Everyone. I personally gave my wife a new house for christmas. It's a major improvement over our current home. We also took a road trip down to Mesquite to see my family which was fun.

Mmmmm, I love brisket. I dated this Jewish girl who's grandma made the best brisket.

The whole gift thing is completely and utterly overrated. Sadly it took me 43 years to figure this out.

I let everyone know this year that there was no pressure and if they needed to spend their money elsewhere I was fine with receiving nothing. Guess what? I received exactly one gift... from my 22 year old daughter. A set of specially designed beer glasses which bring out the specific qualities of varying beers. She and I spent Christmas night tasting beers and talking until midnight. Honestly, one of the better Christmas days that I ever had. And truthfully, it had nothing to do with the gift.

Christmas eve was great as well. It was spent with all my kids (including 2 foster kids that lived with us for several months), my brother and his 2 kids and my oldest daughter's boyfriend. All we did was eat, talk, laugh and have a ball until 1 AM. Not a single gift was exchanged. Best Christmas Eve ever, hands down.

As far as what I gave? For some of my closest neighbors, I shoveled their driveway and walk during the past 2 snow storms. I helped the elderly couple next door cut down a 30+ year old tree that was threatening to crash through their roof if it snowed again. My family, I spent time with each person doing what they wanted like wacthing numerous hours of my daughter's favorite show with her, helping my other daughter sew blankets for several of her friends, etc. Basically, spending quality time with those that mattered. Time spent with others making them happy was/is the best gift I have ever given.

I would encourage everyone to forgo the whole gift thing next year and concentrate on nothing more than spending quality time with loved ones and friends. It will take a certain amount of effort on your part to discern what best to do with each person but I think most of us know already. Spending quality time with a loved one will be remembered forever. Seriously, can you even remember what you gave everyone last year? Can you remember what you received? Me, I'll remember this year's Christmas for the rest of my life and I didn't buy or receive anything of monetary value. I feel better about this Christmas than any I can remember. Hopefully those that I spent time with feel the same way.
