Millsap for Bledsoe?

It would be kind of sad if the Jazz don't get anything out of those two expiring deals. Potentially one will walk away for nothing in return.

I wonder what the hold up on LAC's end is. Do you think they're demanding Burks and/or Hayward as part of the deal? If so, they can go pound sand.

If it's a matter of 1st round picks...**** it, just do it. If we get Bledsoe, we don't need a 1st round pick this year as far as I'm concerned.

I'd say it's them getting cold feet.

Bledsoe is their insurance policy. For the rest of the season, they're relying on Paul & Billups to stay healthy. I think it's wishful thinking to be honest with chu.

The reward of getting Millsap < the risk of Paul & Billups going down.

Hayward as part of the deal? Please log out and quit while you can.

I'd do it at the last second. But I'm not talking about a straight swap.

They want Sap. The talk is the Jazz might have to send back Burks along with Sap. I'd swap out Hayward for Burks in that scenario, but then try to steal the leverage back. But no matter what the final package looks like, I'd much rather give up Hayward to get Bledsoe than Burks.

Biff Alert!

Billy, did you suffer a recent head injury??

Nothing but money to spend on the FA market...if we can bring them here and there are good ones available. Aye, there's the rub...that pesky IF.

What exactly are standing-pat rumbles?

Frankly I agree with this thinking. I like Sap, but I think if they're a true contender with him, they're a contender without him as well. I'd prefer to keep the insurnace policy at PG because one (or both) of those guys missing time (especially Paul) could be crippling without Bledsoe.

They'd be smart to hold onto him until draft day. He'd fetch a pick in the 6-10 range, I'm guessing from anyone who needs a PG but misses out on Marcus Smart.

Game over guys...

Told Clippers are very likely to stick with what they have going forward and not be involved in any deals, significant or otherwise.

Let's go back to discussing Burke...

Are luxury tax issues an impediment to the Jazz and Clippers making a trade? If so it says something about the deal

Grantland's Zack Lowe, who does great work, has tweeted out that luxury tax issues are causing the Clippers and Jazz to have a tough time making a deal - likely the rumored deal with Millsap and Bledsoe.

The Clippers are only 440,000 below the tax and the Jazz are 3.5 million below the tax threshold.

However, if the deal were simply Millsap for Bledsoe and Butler or Bledsoe and Burks there would be no tax implications. Because the Jazz either 1.3 or 1.1 million more in either deal. Therefore, this would be a non issue.

However, if the Clippers are insisting that the Jazz include Alec Burks in the deal then the Clippers would be taking back 1 million more than the Jazz and would push the Clippers over the tax threshold.

If the Clippers add another player in the deal such as Ryan Hollins then the money gets straightened out but the Jazz would have to cut Raja Bell because it would put 16 players on the roster. Moreover, Ryan Hollins has been playing 15 minutes a night recently and the Clippers may not want to move him.

This leaves the possibility of the Jazz putting a 1st round pick into the deal instead of Burks and I need to investigate how that impact luxury tax

Interesting

A deal like this is probably going down to the wire. Unless the story is that talks have broken off, assume there's still some posturing going on. It makes sense to look at all possibilities until the final couple of hours. Notice how no one else has completed any trades either.

I think the Jazz would include a pick BTW. They'd certainly do that before sending Burks now that it looks like Burks is a 1st-round pick that's panning out.
