Referring back to a game in december, The tribune offered these words:
When Paul Millsap was benched for the entire fourth quarter of a game in late December, he was asked whether the coaching decision upset him.

"What you think?" he responded. "I’ll let you answer that."

Paul Millsap, in re his 4th quarter benching in Houston, said these words:

Obviously," he said, "it’s going to be that way. So I got to live with it."

Millsap is such a pansy for making this comments. The whole "well he is just a competitor" excuse is ********.

Gordon Hayward is probably our most consistent competitor on this team, and look at how HE has dealt with coming off the bench.

I honestly have no care for Millsap anymore. He was amazing with DWill, and has been inconsistent ever since. if he isn't okay coming off the bench, please boot his *** off this team.

All this is true. I wish he would have said something more accurate like, "Man, I wasn't playing good at all. I'm glad my teammates stepped up to inspire the team on that comeback attempt." That is a real man comment IMO.

The Millsap-apologism of the Jazzfanz community has got to be one of the most perplexing things out there.

He is an insecure child for making these comments, through and through.

Has Millsap ever offered extensive praise towards a teammate?

Only thing I can think of is when he talked about Al Jefferson being a sweetheart, because he gave him the ball at the end of the OKC game last season. Hmmmmmmm.

To continue off of that, and to really send my message home:

Has Paul Millsap ever said anything positive about the play of Derrick Favors to the media, either in print or via video? EVER?!?

I would love to see some answers here.

Say what you will about Jefferson-- he has praised the play of literally every player on this team. From Evans to Foye.

Even DWill gave his fellow teammates the big-ups.

And Paul is supposed to be a leader for this team. What a damn joke.

Millsap has the Boozer "Im a Starter" mentality, and I don't think he will ever accept the fact that coming off the bench may be in his best interest, and benefit himself and whichever team he ends up playing for in the future.

Well, Millsap is the ultimate competitor right? I actually don't remembering him even saying positive things about anyone on the team that plays PF/C.

Yeah, Millsap is pretty whiny. It'd be nice if he can re-sign with the team, as long as he accepts that he isn't exactly Michael Jordan.

Boom.

Go to any post-game highlight real from real leaders. Players like Stockton. Malone. Jordan. Olajuwon.

All players, immediately after their respective (big) performances, would shower their teammates with praise, and feel no hesitation to single their contributions out.

Gordon Hayward does the same, which is great to see.

Paul Millsap on the other hand?? And yet this guy gets a free pass when Jefferson doesn't? I'll never understand.

I think this is what it comes down to. He seems to play with zero passion for this franchise. Basketball is a business for him, and I highly doubt that he gives the Jazz a hometown discount.

Honestly, if Millsap wasn't a locker-room cancer in terms of coming off the bench, and embraced letting Favors start ahead of him, I would jump for joy when we re-sign him.

Fact of the matter is, I just cant see that happening. I feel like Favors wouldn't feel emotionally supported by Millsap, whenever he would start games. You can't have that on basketball teams.

Apologist here. Dude doesn't generally offer up much of anything in interviews. He wants to be on the court, competing, which is a good thing. He has never said he deserves to start or that the decision to put him on the bench was wrong. Let his play do the talking.

Paul's insistance that he is a starter is what bugs me the most. I know every NBA player wants to start, but you have to be willing to move aside for the new alpha male. If that means requesting a trade, so be it. If that means biding your time until your contract is up, so be it. Or if you are Hayward, you make the best of it and outplay the guy ahead of you until you do start. Of course it helps that he is the new face of the franchise (just go look at the story pictures on the Jazz main site today)

I know there is some sentiment that the Jazz keep Millsap and let Al go because Millsap is the work horse guy with good character and represents what Sloan was all about, but Sloan isn't here anymore and the identity of the team is changing over to a more friendly and athletic model and frankly, Paul doesn't fit anymore.

(edit: wow, a lot of people posted while I was posting with a lot of my points. well, that just proves me right. ;) )

Seriously? If Favors is that mentally weak, he's not going to be an impact player, period. Millsap came off the bench at the start of last season, and played extremely well.

Just a garbage excuse in the truest of forms, IMO.

His play definitely HAS been doing the talking. Has he had a mentionable performance since his game against the Bucks?

If you lack vocal leadership skills, and choose to lead by 'example' instead, at least try and maintain a consistent performance throughout a season.

Any team that has rotational hostility, and a team-leader that can't acknowledge the talents of a player who plays his position will never succeed.

GVC: I still look forward to your responses on my points regarding Millsap's "loyalty" to this team, along with how he has yet to say a single positive remark about a player playing PF/C.

Im pretty sure I've heard him compliment Hayward and a few of the backcourt players, on the other hand.
