Milsap is Gone

I thought GVC would be going on a full-scale meltdown a la VSlice, tbh.
1. Why? I've clearly stated several times that I was fine with Millsap being back OR leaving.

2. Link to VSlice's twitter account?

Because everyone knows you're a Millsap fan. I was just teasing you-- lighten up a little.

He has a cap hold til we renounce his rights, no?
That is correct. WE only gain the space when a FA signs elsewhere or we renounce their rights.

Goodbye, Paul. I appreciated all you gave us. It was a joy to watch you play every year except the past two, when it was evident your heart was no longer with the Jazz.

Assuming Burke and Gobert are signed for the full 120% rookie salary scale and McNeal is retained, I have:

Jefferson: 11 046 000
Biedrins: 9 000 000
Williams: 7 500 000
Favors: 6 008 196
Kanter: 4 505 280
Rush: 4 000 000
Hayward: 3 452 183
Burke: 2 438 760
Burks: 2 202 000
Evans: 1 660 257
Gobert: 1 078 800
McNeal: 884 293

Total: 53 775 769

So ya...about 4.75 left.

Have to admit I saw your list and had a momentary panic attack. And then I realized it's a DIFFERENT Jefferson.

I was thinking the same thing. I really wish they wouldn't have made the trade for Marvin Williams. Even with Mo on the roster, they should have let Harris expire. Then Lindsey would have even more cap space to play with at the deadline.

Marvin will be our one expiring that a contender will be interested in.

I'd like to thank Al and Paul for representing the Jazz in a professional classy manner all these years. I wish them all the luck in their future endeavors. Except against the Jazz.

Is it possible to sign MSap for a extremely innovative contract? For example 4 year 32M - 1st year 2M then 10M per year after. Just so the Jazz retain him without breaking this years luxury tax? :)

Why? I loved Paul when he played here. I wish him well in the future, but this is for the best. We need a fresh start and so does he.

I wouldn't be so sure. Haven't you watched Sloan's press conference? Old mother****er said "how many young players have you seen in NBA finals?" I fear tough times for young players are ahead.

My response to Sloan:

"How many ****ty vets do you see leading their teams to the finals?"

I'd rather have young talented players moving towards a title than ****ty vets taking you away from one.

He may be headed to Atlanta...

In other NBA news, I'm hearing that Paul Millsap is in serious talks with the Atlanta Hawks. Trying to confirm and get terms.

Good for him. I hope he gets paid a lot.

1. No, it's not possible under the Collective Bargaining Agreement to structure a contract like that.

2. The Jazz are nowhere near the luxury tax, they're about $4.75mm under the salary cap (reported to be about $58.5mm this season...the luxury tax should be over $70mm).

Fantastic. I feared Atlanta might decide to blow things up if they didn't get Howard. Now they'll have Millsap and Korver. Cross them off the list of tankers.

Thank you for your response.
