Minny & Cavs 2025 picks watch thread

Cavs with the W. Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!! Down go the TWolves!!!

GSW, Sac and Pho just 0.5 games behind them. Wolves could fall all the way to 12

On a side note, it annoys me that OKC will be getting a good lottery pick out of Philly. Also, that our 1st from Clev will be almost as good as the 2nd we gave away in the Conley/NAW trade to the Wolves (we should have received 2nds instead)

Take solace in that them being good means it will be harder to keep the team together for the last pick. That's the real prize for Utah with Cleveland/Minnesota.

Cleveland understood the assignment. The next 10 for The Wolves:

-Grizzlies 27-15
-Mavs 23-19
-Nuggets 25-16
-Hawks 22-19
-Suns 21-20
-Jazz 10-30
-Wizards 6-34
-Kings 21-20
-Bulls 18-24
-Rockets 27-13
I can't see The Wolves doing better than .500 in those 10 games. I'll guess 4-6.
Mavs, Suns, Kings are all BOGO games for them. Those will determine that stretch. I can see 6-4 in that stretch pretty easily. Mavs suck right now. Bulls likely to pull the plug asap.

Donte with a Grade 3 toe sprain which sounds like potential surgery on the table. Either way I think that's a 6 week plus type injury. We all remember George's toe.

Would anyone trade Sexton for Conley if they gave us the Pistons pick? I know that deal isnt possible due to salary, but just curious.

I have a strict "don't help the Wolves" policy. Normally I just do what is best for us but with such a direct relationship to our success I am not helping them... even if it means someone else does and becomes the beneficiary.

Agreed. The trade itself is fine but the timberwolves being the team that gets the immediate improvement makes me say no.

the additional opinion part seems like season ending surgery is on the table. They had stayed so healthy up until now.

I believe they have been the healthiest team in the whole league this year. Between their top 8 guys (aka their whole rotation), they've only had 6 missed games total. They've needed near perfect health just to stay in the playoff race.

Yup and I don't wish for injuries but man its crazy how healthy they were with some older guys in the rotation. We will see what the depth pieces can do but they are riding their guys with a lot of minutes as well.

True, but it's not like they could afford Sexton beyond his 2 years. Getting the Pistons pick would be nice. But I guess with this Donte D injury and Gobert on a bum ankle, we might get lucky and see them in the lottery. In that case, I probably wouldnt help.

Like I said... normally I am a guy who just does what is best for your team. Like when teams are all "we took less to trade him to the other conference" it is so dumb to me. Or when they are like "we don't want to help the Spurs find a partner for Wemby" I roll my eyes. Since this is a direct "helping them hurts us in some direct ways" I will just have them try and find someone else.

Its also a tough market right now so there is a chance if we don't help a team they don't find another deal.

Right now they are on the ropes. Unless Rudy is out long term or Ant gets hurt I think the floor is 9/10 play in game... but in two, one game samples anything can happen and they end up in the lotto.

I don't think trades with MIN are necessarily bad. As much as people have cried about Conley going to MIN (which was LAL's decision), I think that has helped our pick outlook for sure. I wouldn't trade them Sexton because he helps them now and later.

Wonder if more teams will face guard Ant like Memphis does with Wells. Its clearly annoying him.

We need to bank enough Ls to win all 4 Minny games without hurting tank position. Gifting them 4 wins on the back half of the year would be quite helpful to their positioning.
It will be interesting as we get closer how the potential wins on either side could effect lottery odds/positioning. Like if a win over Min could mean moving from 2nd to 3rd best odds (no difference in potential top end outcomes), but move Min from 19th to 14th best odds, then you definitely want to win. However, if a win pushes us from 3rd to 4th best odds, but only moves MIN from 21st to 20th then you definitely want to lose. But then there are a ton of scenarios in between where it gets more interesting.

I think anything (for the most part) that ends with Minny giving us a lotto pick is the right choice. Unless something weird where it pushes us from like 2 to 5 (say we swept the series). Even if we move from 3 to 4 and it cause Minny to end up in the lotto then we get a few of those lotto balls back plus some high level potential outcomes.

I bet we can only take 1 game off them even if we are trying really hard but its interesting for sure.
