Mitchell injury

His paychecks. We're not allowed to pay a dead body.
Hey the gub'mint sent stimulus checks to dead people, so...

And look how long DedEx pulled a paycheck. Rumor has it he still is.

There was a woman within the past year or two, in Tooele, I believe, who was found dead and they found her husband in the freezer. They estimate he had been dead for a few years and she was living off his VA checks.

I heard about that. Gotta give her credit, but it was pretty cold.

How come I haven’t seen the most obvious reason mentioned... that he was being held out by the Jazz training staff so that he doesn’t make all-nba?

because you didn't look hard enough. I mentioned it... doesn't really impact yesterday's decision though.

Not sure if anyone said it during the game but Don needs to sit the **** down and not get off the bench in the middle of a skirmish. Couldn’t he have been suspended for that?

Why didn’t they see it before? He practiced for three days. Why wasn’t he in the injury report at all? If it is courageous to hold him out yesterday how would you describe it today when he’s been given the green light?

I get that we have to trust the medical pros... I really do, but if they didn’t have the stones to stand up earlier than game day they aren’t deserving of praise for standing up last minute. They should have done their evaluation earlier if a shoot around performance carried that much weight.

If the player felt ready and they had previously cleared him it just feels wushu washy and like they don’t understand how the timing could affect everything else around the team. Maybe they did it this way because Don was being a diva and it was the only way to ensure he had to sit... IDK but it got screwed up royally and 3 days ain’t gonna be the difference between “all clear” and “career altering injury risk”.

I’m just not gonna give any flowers to anyone involved here since it was a complete and utter **** show
Well, I obviously cannot say why they didn’t see it before, but can only imagine that after one practice he did look okay and they cleared him but on shootaround on game day something changed. Someone can have a scan that shows they are cancer free one month but the next scan can show something of concern.

I don’t think this has anything to do with not having “stones”. You don’t need to send them flowers, but I do think it is worth considering that given all the pressure and blowback they knew they would receive, likely from the ownership, coaching staff, the fans, and the patient himself, they still made what they thought was the correct call for their patient. Were they right? We’ll never know. But I’m sure it wasn’t an easy call to make.

Because yesterday has no impact on that, its already voted on.

My problem with the Jazz's medical staff is that they removed Mitchell from the injury report entirely on Saturday only to declare him "Out" the next day without any setback noted.

If there was a possibility of Mitchell missing the game, that should have been communicated to everyone. He should have been on the injury report. The medical staff didn't even communicate it to the rest of the team - they all got blindsided by it hours before tipoff.

That's just straight up indefensible.
From what I gather the jazz didn’t like what they saw from how he moved around in shoot around. And I also heard that it was only Mitchell’s team working on him and they are the ones that cleared him. I could be wrong, I don’t know but the jazz staff never cleared him.

I doubt the organization would have taken him off the injury list solely because his staff cleared him. Moreover, it's really interesting they were so quick to rule he would play Wednesday if they really didn't like what they saw from practice yesterday. It just doesn't add up.

The Jazz staff never cleared him. They were being pressured to clear him. The confusion isn’t the Jazz training staff. The confusion comes from Mitchell only being willing to listen to his personal staff and not the team staff. The ESPN article said “deepened tensions” not “started tension”. He’s been being his little diva self for weeks now as usual.

What do you do as a team? The team staff clearly wasn’t comfortable with him playing, then he threw a fit, and went public with it to the media(just like the Rudy situation). The disconnect and confusion obviously is the fact there are two medical staffs and he’s only willingly listening to one. If you hold him out Wednesday he’ll just diva more with the media and make more of a public stink about it.
