Mitchell injury

IIRC, our organization's staff let Memo destroy himself in the playoffs. I don't blame Mitchell for seeking outside opinions.

More generally, the Jazz staff has the goal of taking care of the players in a way that benefits the Jazz. Mitchell wanted people that were solely interested in taking care of Mitchell. That sounds reasonable.
He also practiced for three straight days... scrimmaged... what could they have seen in a shoot around that took him from not on the injury report at all to out?

I don't know why he got his own guys in there in the first place... that may have been to get some yes men... or he just thought they had a better route for him. The management of yesterday's **** show is 99% on the med staff and management. The stuff before that may have been high maintenance from DM or him deciding to protect his own interests... I just don't think he's the one that should get blame here... and FYI I thought he was to blame for a lot of the Covid drama.

Right...no matter how you slice it, someone ****ed up really bad. If Mitchell truly cannot play, why was he not on the injury report and how did it get to the point where we blindsided our own team? If DM was ready to go, the training staff really ****ed up by attempting a power grab and costing us a playoff win.

There's probably a hint of truth to everything and all sides. But the end result is distrust between player and training staff + blindsiding your own team right before a playoff game. Not good...someone has to be fired and held accountable. It's not Don and the FO (who is guilty in any account) is not going to fire themselves. The training staff is going to be sacrificed regardless of how much "blame" they deserve.
He practiced for three straight days and scrimmaged as well... was good enough that he wasn't on any injury report... then goes to out because of something they discussed with his warm ups? Seems like some ******** to me.

That was a fun couple of minutes of reading. I’m on Mitchell’s side completely. Dude would have never leaked anything if he played yesterday. Think of how great it would have been to have him return and we win Game 1. It’s the playoffs. Every game matters. Dude wants to be out there and play. Let him play for ****s sake. We are going to piss off our franchise player for what?

I don’t think anyone acted with malicious intent here (i.e. Don being a diva or the medical staff making some weird “power grab”). I think this basically came down to communication failures at every level. That is what needs to be addressed, one way or another.

Bogey to end his answer last night was “you’ll have to ask him” not “you’ll have to ask the medical staff”. The other players were obviously annoyed, and not just with the training staff.
Are you suggesting that bogeys answer means they the medical staff was telling Donovan to get out there and play but Donovan was uh uh I don't wanna?

No, I simply think it’s become pretty clear he’s always the one creating drama surrounding the franchise and teammates are probably tired of answering questions about his ****. I don’t think the medical staff was ever actually comfortable with clearing him and were feeling pressured to do so.

This is probably way closer to the truth but not nearly as fun as my conspiracy theories.

I think it was Deron Williams fault. Just like Sloan, he is pushing him out.

Except it wasn't Deron's fault. Sloan needed to call it quits in 2008.
Calm down everyone... i love Jerry and DWill and will no longer have any slanderous things said about either.

Plus everyone knows this was Fisher's fault.

Interesting that he's ready to go now, but not last night? Yeah, I'm still not convinced it wasn't a medical team power grab. What changed since last night? Oh right, the media spreading the story and making the organization look bad.
He also practiced today... so not sure how he wasn't ready yesterday and is today... did they find some x-rays in the back of the file that looked better? Did his balance beam performance get a 9.5 instead of a 9? Or were they on some ******** yesterday?

I don't know medicine or science and most days I suck at English... but I got a doctorate in ******** and this some ********.

The fact he threw a fit is what changed.

He threw a fit because all indications are that he was going to get to do what he loves to do yesterday... and then they changed their mind last minute and he couldn't do the thing he loves to do... so yeah go on and throw a fit... maybe throw a bigger one so they play you the day before last.

If it would have been so detrimental to his health then why clear him less than 24 hours later?

He may not have been cutting normally, might not be jumping normally. It could be small things, but after his fit he’ll be playing obviously and if he sustains a major injury or setback and your the Jazz medical staff, all you can do is feel like “don’t look at me”

Literally because he threw a fit is what changed. Now if that ankle injury turns into a torn knee ligament and he’s really not ready, that’s on him.
