MLB All-Time Fantasy Draft

Bobby Cox

Guided the Braves to 14 straight division titles and the all time leader among all MLB managers in getting thrown out of ballgames.

Bobby was beloved by all his players, he was a players manager and often gave them the freedom they needed to play the game. He rarely gave a batter a red light on a three ball count and was fierce in protecting and standing up for his players in the midst of a bad call. Hence the major league lead in getting thrown out of ball games.

Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium, AKA. The launching pad

In 1965 the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was opened, having taken only 50 weeks to construct. ... Atlanta was already over 1,000 feet above sea level, so that the Atlanta stadium had the unique circumstance of being known as “The Launching Pad”. The only major downfall was the bad quality of the playing field itself.

My team will have an advantage of being used to playing in a crummy field while my opponent will be making plenty more mistakes than my team.

As far as historical context for the stadium goes there isn’t much other than the hank Aaron homerun breaking record that happened here. Aesthetically Speaking this stadium was a dump. But a lot of great memories of the Braves greatest triumphs and heartbreak are here. Couldn’t imagine picking any other piece of dirt!!

What about when Sid Bream (I think it was him) rounded third and Barry Bonds throw didn’t get there in time in game 7 of the NLCS? Not crazy memorable but a fairly memorable moment there, no?

Was it Sid Bream? That’s who I’m picturing but I don’t recall if he was ever on the Braves.
