Mo Williams makes demand to Jazz

Mo Williams will re-sign as a free agent with the Utah Jazz only if he remains the starting point guard next season, a source told Yahoo! Sports on Friday.
Mo Williams
The demand comes a day after the Jazz traded up in the draft to get University of Michigan star Trey Burke, who was selected ninth on Thursday night.
"He's not going to come back as a backup," the source said of Williams.
As for Burke, he told reporters Thursday, "My goal is to come in and start right away. I look forward to coming in and helping the team win."
Williams, a 10-year NBA veteran, averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 assists during his injury-plagued 2012-13 season in which he played 46 games.
Trey Burke
The Jazz were adamant in stating their need for a point guard in this year's draft class. They dealt their two first-round picks (Nos. 14 and 21) to the Minnesota Timberwolves in order to get Burke to Salt Lake City.
Burke averaged 18.6 points and 6.7 rebounds as a sophomore last season while leading Michigan to the NCAA championship game.

Good luck Mo trying to find a starting PG position. Man if this is true Mo 's ego certainly has gotten big. I don't want him back and I will be mad if he comes back.

Don't let the door hit ya... We need to be fully committed to the youth movement here. We don't want to have another episode like with DWill where he wasn't started.

He could have saved himself the PR nightmare by just keeping note of the fact that Corbin is still coach when he goes to re-ink.

I don't really see where the "demand is"? Did he call KOC up and say this?

Wonder if Burke can put up 13 and 6 this season.

My first thought was "well he can go **** himself," but also this could be a blessing in disguise from him. I'm praying this makes the decision for the Jazz an easy one.

OK, maybe the headline is misleading and there isn't a "demand" per se, but still. Here's a sampling of what Mo brought the Jazz last season:

*Played in 46 games, barely over half
*Team was 22-24 in games he played (21-15 without him)
*43% shooting
*Fewer assists per 48 minutes than both his backups
*30 years old (31 in December)

He's a good guy but production and results just weren't there. No need to guarantee a starting job whether there's a demand or not.

You had it right the first time. He can go **** himself.
