This article has some good details and history on the bomb the US dropped yesterday. And video.

The Pentagon has released new aereal video that shows the 21,000 'Mother of All Bombs' that the U.S. dropped in an effort to try to wipe out members of a terror group in Afghanistan
The footage shows the moment of impact of the GBU-43B, the largest non-nuclear munition in the U.S. arsenal
The military dropped its largest non-nuclear weapon after targeting a network of ISIS tunnels
The blast in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday killed 36 militants, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense
GBU-43 weighs 21,600lbs, is 30ft long, contains 11 tons of explosives and carries a mile-wide blast radius
It can create a blast crater more than 300m wide after being dropped from a Hercules MC-130 cargo plane
President Donald Trump pledged in 2015 that if he became president he would 'bomb the s**t out of ISIS'
Thursday he called the attack 'another successful job' and said he'd delegated strike authority to the military

The government's decision to release the video ensures that potential adversaries get the opportunity to see the devastation wrought by the powerful weapon as it unfolds, at a time when the Trump administration is facing down a tense situation in North Korea, just days after launching 59 cruise missiles at a Syrian airfield.

The Mother Of All Bombs that obliterated 36 ISIS militants and a rat-nest network of tunnels and caves was 'the best weapon to clear an obstacle' in an ongoing offensive against 20 terror groups in Afghanistan, although the terror group denied it had suffered any casualties.

Amaq, the news agency affiliated with Islamic State in the Middle East, carried the statement citing an unidentified source who had been in contact.

After dropping the most powerful non-nuclear bomb ever used in combat in Eastern Afghanistan, the Pentagon has confirmed it received no orders to flex military muscle and that it had been merely a decision taken on the ground.

It really is quite amazing. There's nothing in the least funny about it, but, for some reason, I laughed when I first heard the term "the mother of all bombs". And, before I clicked on it, I thought your thread was about one of my favorite towns in Utah:-)

Im hearing that Russia is now claiming to have a bomb twice the size of MOAB and they are calling FOAB (father of all bombs)
Serious

Because this was some monumental post? Get real. Not to mention the MOAB decision was not the Presidents. it was the military commanders in Afghanistan.

^2nd most perfect Stroked post in this thread^

Trump is gonna really like the feeling of killing.

This has been a massive fear of mine that is growing stronger and stronger.

I don't want the military to become the play thing of a person who feels the need to prove how big his hands are by exaggerating how big his hands are.

lol, not to mention other body parts.

I do find some of his moves alarming. Like the decision to move the Stennis group back to the Koreas or the reports of "total authorization" given to military commanders.

On a side tangent, https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...s-were-falling-afghans-reel-from-moabs-impact

Gives some perspective on what that bombs impact is like, interesting.

And this is a perfect NAOS post. Full of mocking condescension while lacking in any substance of value.

Dude, I've had you on ignore for a while now. I'm only responding because I get a quote notification and see you overly-relativizing (per usual) and missing the point I was gesturing toward (and don't tell me you don't gesture toward [as opposed to make] points).

My comment had enough substance. It's on plenty of peoples' minds right now. If it wasn't drilled down specifically enough for your particular take on this particular thread, then allow me to laugh. Please.

Go make grey elsewhere. Ciao.

well then either retreat out of afghanistan, or GO TO WAR!!!!!!!!!!!

and going to war is throwing everything you got at them! and that includes MOAB.
you cant be half in war!
the way obama did, too many service man got killed to get approval to return fire, or call in airstrikes while pinned down!

you cant be half in a war, or fighting a war to win hearts and minds, there is no such thing. you cant use war in same sentence with hearts and minds.

so you want them to retreat out of Afghanistan, OR WAGE WAR!!!!!!!!!

spit on your hands, Hoist the black flag and start slitting throats.

and yes if you are not prepared to do that, better retreat then and go home! i'm fine with either option. because these 2 are the only logical options!
the half war is dangerous, and doesn't work

Your comment was entirely lacking in any specifics or facts.

Glad to know I'm on ignore. I'll go back to seeing you as nothing more than a pompous blowhard and not worth any interaction. An opinion we obviously share. Bye.

Thanks for the read. I agree that there are some very troubling trends world wide.

Increased military spending across the board, Philippines drawing away from the US and towards China, S. & E. China Sea tensions, NATO expansion, the entire M.E., Crimea/Ukraine, several nations looking at or actively expanding nuclear weapon systems (including the U.S.)..

Not to mention that inherent strife in one nation supplanting the other economically at the top of the food chain.
