The most important position is the one that gives you the biggest advantage over other teams, most likely the one your best player plays.
Was PF or PG the most important position on the Jazz with Malone & Stock... debatable.
LeBron is 10x more important than any PG on his team.
Jordan could have won those championships with JLIII... okay, that may be extreme but you get my point.
Olajuwon was more important than the other positions on his team at 5.
So basically the general theory of PG may be correct, but when you think about it with specific players and teams it can change upon the circumstances.
