Most likely draft targets

I was thinking through some of these scenarios earlier this morning. Give me your top 3-5 most likely draft targets in order of descending likelihood, and elaborate on how we get them:

1. Dante Exum
- Vonleh's stock seems to be squarely on the rise, and by multiple accounts he is now considered in the top tier of prospects alongside the big three. If that's truly the case in NBA circles, I don't think Orlando passes on Vonleh in favor of Exum at #4. I think it's increasingly likely that Exum could be there for the taking at #5.

2. Noah Vonleh
- Embiid-Wiggins-Parker-Exum top 4, in some order. We stand pat and take Vonleh at #5. Fairly straightforward.

3. Jabari Parker
- No chance in my eyes he's there past #3. Jabari in a Jazz uni means DL flipping #5 and a number of our other assets for the #2 or #3. I don't see Milwaukee giving up that pick, I think Philly would be the more likely trade target.

4. Aaron Gordon
- The least likely, in my eyes. This would involve the FO valuing Gordon close to on par with Vonleh and/or Exum, and some team in the 7-10 range willing to pony up to grab whichever of Exum/Vonleh slips to #5.

Cavs want a rim protector. If they are worried about Embiid's back, they could be willing to trade the #1 for Favors, #5, and #23.

Big IF involved, but is a scenario that has been getting a lot of talk.

I know it's number one and all but that is a **** ton to give up. We are In a good position to land one of the Stars of the draft without gutting our team or assets.

We could consider Favors and the 23 but that would be max.

I've heard #1 & Kyrie for #5 #23 #1 1015 gs pick in 2017 + Burke and Favors is being discussed..

I'd do that fo sho. Cleveland is the only franchise that I could see even entertaining that deal.

I would do it too.

I didn't make up this scenario. It's from the Chad Ford chat, I believe.

Personally, I'm torn about it. This draft is deep, and we will likely get someone with star potential @5, but it will most likely be Vonleh, which is a position we don't really need help at. Favors has pretty much proven he is better as a 4, and Kanter isn't a rim protector, so is he really a 5? I guess bigs are bigs, but making PF's play C won't be as effective, since they'll be undersized. On the flip side, with how deep this draft is, #23 could be another very good player. I really like Cleanthony Early, and I think he'll be available there.

I love Wiggins and think he'll be great, and I think Jabari will be great offensively as well, but I think both have some real limitations. Wiggins with ball handling, passing, and shooting, and Jabari with athleticism, weight, and defense. Does that make Embiid the #1 pick? What about his back? Isn't the Favors, Gobert, and Kanter trio going to far better than league average as is? Why gamble it?

I know moving back almost never pans out for the team that does it, but I'm tempted to move back with i a deal with Boston for #5 & 23, for #6 & 17, but would only do that if I was certain Lavine was going to be around @ 17 (which is where Draftexpress has him post combine and LA workout). I'd take Gordon @6, and Lavine @ 17 and be ecstatic.

This though, is probably why this isn't my day job.

I think if it is a trade with the Cavs, Lindsay will try to hold on to the number 5, and throw in one of our future number 1 picks. Two top five picks. It could happen, right?

That is way too much to give up. Where did you hear or read about this? My biggest problem is the number of picks and the rumors of Kyrie having an attitude problem and wanting a max deal. What happens if he doesn't re-sign with the Jazz.

Ya i would want a guarantee that he re-signs with us.

Kyrie
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Embiid

That looks pretty damn good

I've heard this from a ESPN Cleveland podcast. It was last thursday I believe. It was the #1 podcast on the stitcher podcast sports that day. I usually listen to Locke but he didn't do any podcasts last week.

Don't know why Cleveland would do this.
They don't get a veteran all star they want in the deal.
They maybe give up a chance to get LeBron back with this deal.
They push back any attempt to get to playoffs.
They have had horrible success making draft picks and give away a consensus all star with Embiid.
Makes no sense to do this deal.

If we got the #1, we might be forced to take Embiid and I think that's risky, considering he already has had an injury and you know about 7-footers and injuries (there's long list and you can start with Oden and Bogut, and remember Borchardt). If I were a GM, I'd pass on Embiid.

All those reasons are exactly why they do it....they are Cleveland.
