Do I think any trades actually happen? Probably not but I picked Bogey just because of the mixture of age/contract.

Favors could end up a cap casualty like he was 2 years ago.
A guy who could get moved during the draft would be Azubuike, imo.

My hope is that a team likes Azubuike enough that you can package him and 30 to move up. In a vacuum I don't dislike the Azubuike pick but when you take into account Rudy's contract + adding Favors and it becomes an awful pick.

I think Azubuike and #30 might get the Jazz up to one of Houston's back-to-back picks at 23/24. I'm not sure if the Jazz would do that or not. Taken on his own, Azubuike might net a late 1st or early 2nd.

I also think there will be interest in Elijah Hughes, but I don't think the Jazz would be ready to move him.

So I would love to believe that Azubuike has any value, but I have absolutely zero idea why he would right now. He was projected as a mid-2nd rounder last year for god's sake and he didn't do anything last year.

I don't think he has any value until he earns it.

I want to emphasize your point here because I don't want the complaint to be about Azubuike himself rather than the context he was picked. Even if they would've grabbed Favors still, even paying Gobert, Azubuike at #38 or #39 is just fine. That would've been enough to get me on board with the decision. And by all accounts, he would've been there.

100% agree

I should've prefaced this with that I want Azubuike to succeed in a Jazz uniform but if you can somehow get a top 20 pick out it I'd probably do it. But I can't help but think DLs entire thought process of taking Azubuike where he did was the hopes he'd become good enough sooner rather than later so he could trade Gobert because other than that I still don't see the logic of taking him in the first round when there were other players on the board that would have been much better picks and still would have been able to walk away with Azubuike in the 2nd round.

One of those textbook cases in professional sports where you draft a rookie only to have zero path for him to develop or succeed.
