What's new

Most reasonable observation on the Jazz 1st round series!

Agreed. Seems to have at least seen a couple games, read this board .. you know, do a little homework.

At this point, while I would obviously love to get to the second round, I'll consider it a success if we win 2 games this series, and I'd even be satisfied with a single W. Just so we do not go gentle into that good summer break...

I will allow this one logical article.

Now I want to hear from my fellow kool-aid drinkers! PAIN TRAIN BABY!!! Utah UTAH UTAH UTAH...

Well, we will lose the first 2 games....then lose the 3rd game in Utah...win the 4th game....and it will end back in Texas in game 5.

The Jazz will abuse Duncan, "Just got a" Boner, and Splitter. They will win the series in 7.
Hayward, Carrol, Howard, Burks, Tinsley, and Harris are more than enough to guard these tweeners.
You guys that are saying the Jazz will lose in 5 or 6 are the same guys that predicted them to only have 25 wins this season.
I predicted them to go 10 games over. 500, and was only 4 games off.
And two of those last few losses were almost bad luck.

I keep seeing in all these articles and such about how bad the Utah defense is. I am not sure where that opinion is because the statistics do not back it up. We are 4th or 5th in the NBA in blocks, among the top in steals, and during the Suns game they kept mentioning how we are one of the better teams in 3 point defense now. Now unless I am wrong in what those stats mean, and what other things I see such as deflections, Utah actually has a pretty dang decent defense, not one of the league's worst defenses as all these supposed experts keep claiming. For example...

Utah is the 3rd best rebounding team in the NBA at 44.18 rpg, while their opponents get 41.15 against the Jazz....
That rebounding differential is +3.03, which is good for 3rd in the NBA...
Utah blocks 5.83 shots per game, good enough for 4th in the NBA...
Utah also collects 8.26 steals per game, which ranks 8th in the entire league...
Utah scores 99.65 points per game (4th in the NBA) while allowing 99.03 ppg (8th in the NBA) for a differential of +0.62, which is 16th in the league...
The Jazz are 9th in FG% with 45.6%, while allowing 45.3%...
Utah does shoot poorly from 3pt. at just 32.3% which is near the bottom of the league...
But Utah also holds opponents to just 34% from deep, good enough for 8th in the NBA...

These stats are per NBA.com for the entire season. Based on these stats, I certainly do not see this team as even close to being "among the worst defenses in the league" as all these supposed experts claim. Perhaps I am really that smart and should be working for ESPN, CNNSI or TNT, because I see a team that is actually overall in the top 1/3 defensively, blocking shots, getting steals, and holding opponents to poor shooting from deep. The stats back up my claims. It just seems that everyone, including the Spurs themselves, have a hardon for San Antonio. Given some time I could probably do a stat comparison for the season, and maybe I will. My main point is that the experts are about as sharp as a rubber eraser, and wont even give valid stats to backup their claims that Utah has one of the worst defenses in the NBA. Just typical media bias though, yet again...

We will be lucky to win one. The Spurs are almost unbeatable when all their main players play.

This.
As much as I want the Jazz to win and as much as I want the Spurs to lose, the Spurs team this year is a behemoth.
For example, they've only lost 2 times this year at full strength.
The team as a whole, in April is shooting 50%FG, 40%3PT, and 80%FT...I mean, wtf?!?!?!?!
