Musicians Thread

This one is from my first band where I (thankfully) just played guitar. Not the best, I know, but I figure what's the point of creating something if you are to chicken **** to show it to anyone.

Here's a video of a cover project where we played weekly at The Royal for most of 2014.

Before you ask, both of the females are married - the brunette is married to the male lead, actually.

I'm on bass.

Moving to Utah permanently tbh

Bronco, loved the bass lines, whoever played bass has some skillzzzz!!! In general very interesting music.

JimLes,

Assuming you mean Bob Seger. It's Seger, not Seeger.

To mix things up a bit...

Some of you know I help run the a cappella club at BYU. Last year we formed a group made out of the club officers and me. Here we are at a couple of different performances last year, I'm the stiff guy that looks a little older than the rest. :-) (I'm singing bass on the first two and tenor on the third.)

As long as you love me/Wide awake - arrangement by Pentatonix

The man who can't be moved - arrangement by me

All of Me/Say Something mashup - arrangement by the club president (the girl singing lead)

I've been doing a lot more arranging for a cappella this past year, with my three most recent ones being Lego House (Ed Sheeran cover), Opera Singer (Cake), and Over You (Ingrid Michaelson), and we're performing Fall For You (Secondhand Serenade) at an event in a week and a half. We haven't preformed/recorded any of those yet, but if anyone cares you can listen to piano versions of my arrangements (i.e. a piano note playing each part instead of a singer) via the links here: https://betteracappella.com/arrangementindex/categories/results/field_arranger:"John S. Colton". The guitar and bass players in the crowd might be interested to hear how I've translated the guitar and bass lines into something that would be singable by an a cappella group. By the way I've completely fallen in love with Musescore, a free music composition and notation software, for any writers/arrangers out there who might not have seen it yet.

I also sing in a classical choir, the Utah Baroque Ensemble, but I don't think we have any videos. And I play piano and trumpet, although I'm not really in practice with either of those right now.

I forgot about your guitar videos. Haha. Please post post haste.

IzeOfLight played a killer guitar as well, don't know if she told jazzfanz about that or if I found our elsewhere. Don't have any videos but she sent me an audio recording of one of her own songs, just fooling around, and it was dang impressive.

I was thinking the same, especially the bass line in the first one (Dark Edges).

Our bassist was very good. By far the most talented guy in the band.

Bassists generally are the most talented....

;)

I tried to have a new bassist joke for each show we played...

Did you hear about the drummer that locked his keys in the car? He had to use a coat hanger to get the bassist out.

I like this one too, though...

What do you call a guy that always hangs around with musicians?

The drummer.
