Wow.

I kind of knew this album was going to be incredible when I saw Kanye's 40 minute music video that functionally operated as a preview for the entire album. But there was no way to prepare for something quite this epic. It's possibly a game-changing album for its genre and it feels absurd that Kanye may have hit his creative peak even as he's gotten progressively crazier in his public persona. It's a strong entry in the argument that creative output may, in some sense, be tied to more than a modest dose of insanity.

Then again, maybe it's the Four Loko talking.

Listened to the album again today. It wasn't the Four Loko talking.

Now posting a thread about a hip-hop album on a message board based primarily in Utah: that was probably the Four Loko thinking.

I downloaded it this morning, but only listened to the first 5-6 songs in my car this morning. I'll give it a good start to finish listen before I make a judgment, though I really liked what I heard this morning.

Who YB and kicky were REALLY listening too...

I'm giving it a listen right now. I've been a big kanye supporter for years-- he was probably my intro to rap.

MCR also released "Danger Days" and that has been a big letdown listening to it the first time through.

All of the Lights is the best song off of it easily...incredible song

Reasonable people could disagree.

The album is so good that there's a lot of contenders for best track. Runaway's Peter Frampton imitation is totally mesmerizing. The Bon Iver sampling on Lost in the World is absurdly inspired. Even the iTunes bonus track is awesome.

BTW, Biglaw bonuses were announced today and they were so pathetic that I'm on sit-down strike for the rest of the day (law offices won't get much done between now and the end of the year anywhere). I'll probably listen to the album 3 or 4 more times since I have nothing else to do.

Favorite line that I've heard so far:

"Choke a South Park writer with a fishstick."

And they say he's got no sense of humor.

Well, Chris Rock has something to say about an interior design job that you'll find pretty fascinating.

Auuuhh damnit I can't find the .gif of ol' dude from office space going all gansta rap in his car, cause I know I'm not the only one that had that image when thinking of Kicky listening to rap.

It's a ****ing incredible album. The best new album I've heard in recent memory. No joke. Just ****ing AMAZING. Kanye is GOD.

I've never listened to one second of his music, nor do I plan on it. I'm glad you all like it though.

Really an incredible album. I really haven't worked out the kinks, just giving an opinion on one go-round. But I honestly thought Kanye was doomed to die a gangsta's death and fall into a bottomless pit featuring Sisqo, DMX, and Snoop Dogg... but now I'm thinking Kanye and Kid Cudi are going to pave this hip-hoppish, grunge, emo path into unknown territory... and all i can say about that is--- good day sir.
