What's new

My daughter's into black guise.

Brazilians don't speak Spanish bud.

they are a latin american country and my friend from Brazil considers himself hispanic. Portuguese is a latin based language and spanish is spoken there along with german and a lot of different indigenous languages.

you are not going to win this argument because we are arguing symantics

Semantics are kind of important when you are talking about the meaning of words. It's fact. IDC what your one Brazilian friend considers himself.

Latino =/= Hispanics.

Just to make this thread even weirder, I'm pretty sure Wes' daughter is a small child. Like a 5 year old or something.

And??, Does that piss you off or something?

QUOTE=Wes Mantooth;1466553]I went to Google and typed in "Utah Jazz roster" and it showed pics of all the players (some aren't here anymore) and asked her who she thought was cute. She pointed to four guys.

Joe Jesus
Dee Bost
Oliver Hanlan
Donovan Mitchell[/QUOTE]

Keep her away from Karl malone, Karl Malone likes them young girls. Remember he knocked one up?

This thread is just beyond weird and shows why people think Utah is a laughing stock

No, you are not arguing "semantics." Brazil is definitely NOT a hispanic country. If your friend considers himself hispanic, maybe he has ancestry from Spain. I had a roommate and other close friends from Brazil. They never, ever referred to themselves as hispanic.

Most people from Brasil do NOT identify with those from the rest of Latin America. Portuguese does not equal Spanish. Do not call them the same. The divide goes back to 1494 when Spain and Portugal split the world into two halves via treaty. Portugal "got" Brazil; Spain the rest of South America. And thus the Euro exploitation of Brazil began.

Brazil is a melting pot, just like the U.S., and most other developed countries. Outside of the native cultures, you of course have African ancestry (just like in the US, the Europeans - Portuguese in this case - brought over slaves from Africa). There is a also a vary large Japanese presence. And, WWII brought many Germans to Brazil, including Nazis fleeing from war crime prosecutions. IINM, Josef Mengele was the most famous.

Brazilian culture developed primarily from Portuguese, native tribal and African influences, not from Spain.
